Washing machine started making a squealing noise when running. I checked the belt and it looked fine, I also removed the belt and ran the motor and it was running quiet. I spun the pulley on the pump but could not feel any grinding or resistance. Could the bearing in the pump be going out?

The washer still has water in the bottom of the tub after the rinse/spin cycle; yet the washer will pump out the water after the washing cycle. Are there two pumps or is the pump just not fully functioning during the rinse/spin cycle?

Answer Lee, Based on this information the pump would not be working properly. You will want to check the pump to make sure that there are no clogs. Also pull the belt off the pump and see if it turns freely with no resistance. If there is resistance then the pump is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Took out our water pump because machine was making grinding noise...no blockage, but when we turn the wheel it feels like it is grinding more than turning smoothly...is that normal?
