We cannot get a cold water wash? Only hot or warm wash cycle. Is this the pump?

On the water inlet valve, there are two small connectors attaching wires very near the front of the valve. What do they do? Mine has one of the wires disconnected with the metal piece at the end of the wire missing. These are not the large plastic connectors that attach up high on the valve. Please advise what I should do.

Latest Questions

When not in use, water is dripping into the wash tub of my washer. After reading info on many sites, I think it is the fill valve. Do you agree? I have very hard water and wouldn't be surprised to have a lot of calcium build-up. Also, is there a video to show me how to get to and install the new valve?

Will not fill, cleaned screens etc all other functions work fine, problem started when warm water was hot, assumed it was not getting cold at first then just stopped working on both sides. Cold side screen was very clogged up with sediment.

I ordered a replacement valve, but the replacement does not have the thermistor. Is it necessary? I hate to have to send this one back, it'll take weeks.
