My Maytag MSD2556AE has quit dispensing water. We had a power surge a few years ago, and I had to replace the defrost control board (purchased from Appliance Parts pro, 61005988) The water dispenser has never worked since then. The icer-maker/dispenser works fine, just no water. I've defrosted it, replaced the fiter, and replaced the micro-switch (purchased from Appliance Parts Pro, part number 61005520) in the keyapad. Still no water...I thought it might be the water inlet assembly, but it's a dual inlet, is it possible for it to dispence water to the ice maker, but not the water dispencer? Any suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Answer Hello Todd,
Check to see if you are getting power to the water valve when the dispenser lever is pushed for water. If there is 120 vac then the water valve is defective and needs to be replaced. The dual valve will allow one to work without the other.
My icemaker on my refrigerator Maytag MSD 2756 DE stopped filling with water so I replaced it. It still does not work. What should I look to next? I don't hear the water running to fill the tray and the fill lever is in the down postion.
Thanks!

Answer Hello Marty,
You would want to check to make sure that the fill tube is not frozen. If the fill tube is frozen you will not hear the solenoid when it calls for water. If the fill tube is frozen you will want to replace the water inlet valve 61005626.
I have a Jenn Aire refrigerator JCD2389GEB and the ice maker has stopped working. I have checked the fill tube and it doesn't appear to be frozen. I also checked the water pressure and that seems fine too. I can get water from the water dispenser without a problem. So I want to test continuity of the water valve. What ohm readings should I expect if the water valve is working correctly? I have a digital meter... what setting should the meter be at for testing. If the water valve has proper continuity what else should I test?

Answer Hello Jeremy,
When you check the water valve you want to check to make sure that you are getting power from the icemaker. If you put a jumper wire between h and t on the icemaker motor module, this will jump start the icemaker. Make sure that you pull the jumper of after about 10 seconds. Then you want to check the water valve for 120 vac when the icemaker is at about the 11:00 to 11:30 position. This is the water fill section of the cycle. If you have 120vac then you need to replace the water valve 61005626. If you do not have 120vac then you need to jump the icemaker again and using multimeter go from V to N on the module and when it gets to the water fill you should have 120vac. If no voltage then you have a bad icemaker module W10190935. You can also pull the motor module of and check for burnt contacts on the back side and check the heater and thermostat for continuity. You should have continuity through heater and thermostat. If you do not have continuity then which ever one you do not have continuity through is bad.
