My ice maker on my kennmore model 106.56539400 fridge does not dispense water in the ice tray. I put a new filter on and that did not help. The drinking water works fine. I checked the water outlet in the freezer it was not frozen. If it is the water inlet valve how do I get to it to check ?

I have no water to the glass fill, but I do have water to the ice maker and it makes all the ice I need. What is wrong here and what parts do I need to replace.

Answer Hello Russ. Test and see if your getting power to the water valve when the dispenser is calling for it. If so, you will need to replace the valve. Hope this helps.

I came home one day to find my icemaker was pouring water all over my freezer and consequently my kitchen floor. Any idea what caused that? We just shut it off and are using bag ice. Is there a part we need to replace or do we need to replace the entire unit?

Answer Hello Sue! Check and see if there is power at the water valve from the ice maker. If so, you will need to replace the ice maker 2198597. If not, then you will need to replace the water valve W10408179. Hope this helps!

Part# AP5263471 Water Inlet Valve. The picture shows water line and what appears to be a coupler with it. I need to know what diameter the line and coupler are. I need to do a repair on my 5/16" line as well as replace the valve.

Answer Frank, The water line that comes with the water valve [Ap5263471 is 1/4" tubing as well as the coupler. If the tubing coming from the water tank is broken then you can check to see if the water reservoir is a coil of tube and pull some of it out to extend the water line to be able to repair.

problem is no water to ice machine, but to the water dispenser is ok. I checked continuity on solenoids on inlet valves. purple has no continuity which feeds the door,I confirmed this when I took the electrical off I got no water to door. doesn't make sense. please confirm I need the water inlet valve. I have replaced the tray thermostat and transmitter level control.

Answer Quintin, Chances are you're 90-95% on target. Most water dispenser and ice maker issues are due to a faulty fill valve solenoid. Your meter should have indicated a resistance of 500 to 1000 ohms resistance, But resistance checks aren't 100 % accurate anyway. Maybe you had the meter set in the incorrect resistance range ?

Answer Tim, The water inlet valve W10408179 is a good place to start and is the more likely issue. It you have a test light or multi meter you can disconnect the wires from the orange colored solenoid, attach the light or meter probes to the wires and press the water dispenser lever. You should read 120 VAC or the test light should light when the lever is pressed.
