Hello. This washer leaks cold water into the drum when not in use, about three inches overnight. It stops when the cold water hose is turned off. Sounds like the valve to me. The machine is about 14 years old and otherwise runs great, and has a matching dryer that we like. Hopefully I can just replace a simple part.

I have changed the water valve, the orinal complaint was that it was not filling with cold water. After looking through your comments I see why that is the case now. However, if I put the washer on the hot/hot setting it will not fill with hot water either, just warm water. Any ideas. Thanks Bob

I have a Maytag washer, MAV6000AWW. I do not get any cold or warm water in the regular wash / fill cycle, only hot. However, in the rinse cycle I have do get cold water. I thought about replacing the water inlet valve but wondered if I would be getting cold water in the rinse cycle if the inlet valve was faulty. Could this be in the timer or somewhere else? Jim W.

When you select cold/cold on any cycle the water comes out warm so I changed the water valve. The same thing. Then I changed the temperature switch. Same thing! Any ideas? Thanks!

Follow your testing suggestion, Result: No power going to the cold water valve when selecting Cold or Warm water Wash. Cold water valve solenoid has good continuity. Also, when selecting Auto Temp Control for Warm water wash, Control light is not lighted. Valve appears to be OK, What other part(s)would cause the problem of no Cold water?
