Answer Michael, You're pretty much on track, You should install the fuse on the diverter motor. And yes you will need to "cut" the wire to the motor from the control board strip the ends of both wires and tightly attach them in the connector using the screws. The inline fuse will serve a couple of purposes, including a possible power surge damaging the control board,Good Luck and Thanks
