Howard R. for Model Number MGS5770ADB I recently converted from propane to natural gas, and everything worked well. Since the conversion every time I use the oven to BAKE I get the odor of natural gas in the kitchen. I have opened the air orifice wide open but still have the odor. Any ideas what might be the problem might be? No odor when on broil just on bake.
Answer Hi Howard. Has there been another gas appliance worked on in the home recently ? Use a soap and bubble spray to test the connection to see where the leak may come from. Wipe up the soap after checking for leaks. It is common under these circumstances it will cause an issue. Look at the conversion instructions on the rt. side of the page. See where the Safety valve cap changes from Lp - to - Natural ? The natural position has to immediately show when someone lifts the plastic cap for future reference. It is important for the cap holder eyelet be put back on the cap on the bottom half where it threads w/ the cap and holds tight like a spacer washer below the cap nut. This will help align the inner spring pressure so it is properly engaging the inner diaphragm. If this is not the case and all is well, then you have a bad safety valve that will not close. You should really shut the safety valve lever off and not use it until this issue is repaired. Safety valve part # 12002227. Thank You. Read More...
