Check part compatibility

Before you replace the mixer power cord, make sure you have an OEM part that’s compatible with your specific mixer model. To do this, you’ll need to find the appliance model number.

The model number will say MOD or Model before the numbers and is typically found on a sticker or a metal plate in one of the following locations:

  • On the underside of the mixer’s base
  • On the back of the mixer’s head or motor housing
  • On the side of the mixer’s base

Once you’ve found the model number, write it down or take a clear photo of it for reference.

Next, visit AppliancePartsPros.com, where you can enter your model number to check if the new power cord is compatible with your model.

Safety precautions

  • Always power off and unplug your appliance or switch off the circuit breaker before attempting any maintenance or replacement work. This keeps you safe by preventing any risk of injury from electric shock.
  • Keep the mixer and power cord away from heat and water sources.
  • Never plug a stand mixer into an extension cord or adapter. Always plug it in directly at an outlet that provides 120 volts AC.
  • Wear insulated work gloves to protect your hands from sharp metal parts, pinching hazards and debris.
  • When working with wires, avoid touching any exposed wires or terminals. If you need to touch a wire, use a non-conductive tool or wear insulating gloves to prevent electrical shock.
  • Take your time and don’t rush while working to prevent accidents and personal injuries.
  • Work in a well-lit area so you can clearly see and access the interior parts.
  • Clear your workspace of clutter and other obstacles. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
  • Be gentle when handling or removing parts. Excessive force might damage the appliance or cause injury.
  • Wear safety glasses when working with chemicals, dust or cleaning large debris to prevent injury.

Replacement steps

The power cord is attached directly to the power supply control board inside the stand mixer. The cord fits into a grommet opening located at the back of the mixer’s lower housing.

  1. Make sure the mixer is turned off and unplugged from the power outlet.
  2. Remove the power cord by lifting the cord grommet out of the lower housing. Use your fingers or a small flathead screwdriver to gently pry the grommet upwards.
  3. Apply gentle pressure to separate the grommet from the housing. Be careful not to damage the grommet or the housing while doing this.
  4. Find where the power cord attaches to the power supply control board. Take note of how the cord is connected so that you can reattach the new cord correctly.
  5. Carefully disconnect the power cord from its connection point.
  6. On the lower housing of the stand mixer, find the Phillips head screw that secures the ground wire. The ground wire is usually green or yellow.
  7. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to loosen and remove the screw that secures the green or yellow ground wire to the lower housing. Set the screw aside in a safe place.
  8. Completely remove the power cord from the stand mixer. Gently pull the cord out of the grommet and lower housing.
  9. Align the new cord with the power supply control board. Make sure that the wires are properly positioned and not twisted.
  10. Insert the new power cord into the grommet opening at the back of the lower housing. Gently push it in until the grommet is securely in place.
  11. Find the ground wire on the power cord and align the ground wire with the designated connection point on the lower housing.
  12. Insert the Phillips head screw through the ground wire connection point and tighten it securely.
  13. Plug the power cord into the outlet and run a test cycle to check for any problems.
