What causes the F5 error codes?
The F5 error codes F5 E0 and F5 E1 usually point to a problem with the switches and relays that control the oven’s door-locking mechanism during the self-cleaning mode.
- F5 E0 code: Typically indicates that the door switch and the latch switch aren’t synchronized. Normally, when you open the door, these switches will work together to tell the control board if the door is closed and locked. If they don’t, the F5 E0 error will display.
- F5 E1 code: Usually means there’s a problem with the door latch motor. The latch should lock and unlock when it’s activated and the status should reflect on the display. If it fails to do so, you’ll see the F5 E1 error.

- Open the console so you can replace the door switch. After installing the new switch, restore the oven’s power and re-enter diagnostics mode to retest. The clock digit should now toggle when opening and closing the door. If the digit still doesn’t toggle, move on to the next step.
- Check the wiring between the door switch and the control board for any damaged or frayed wires. If you find any damage, replace the door switch wire harness. If the wiring looks good, replace the control board.
- Restore power to the unit, enter diagnostics mode, and repeat the tests on the door switch. The F5 E0 code should clear.

How to troubleshoot the F5 E1 error
When troubleshooting an F5 E1 error, you’ll need to get the latch motor and switch working correctly. Follow these steps:
- Make sure the oven is plugged in.
- Enter diagnostics mode through the control panel.
- Press the CLEAN button to activate the latch motor.
- Check that the first digit on the clock display toggles between 0 and 1 as the latch locks and unlocks. It will show 1 when the latch has locked and 0 when it’s unlocked. If the digit does NOT toggle, unplug the oven and replace the entire latch motor assembly, then move on to the next step.
- Restore power to the oven and retest it in diagnostics mode. Press CLEAN and make sure the clock digit toggles between 0 and 1 as it locks and unlocks. If the digit still doesn’t toggle, move on to the next step.
- Check the mechanical linkages of the latch mechanism. Make sure the latch pin properly engages the door slot. Repair if needed.
- Unplug the power cord or turn off the breaker.
- Use a multimeter to test the latch motor for continuity. Replace it if it’s defective. If the latch motor tests good, move on to the next step.
- Examine the wiring between the latch assembly and the control board for any damaged or frayed wires. Replace any damaged wires. If the wiring is intact but the error continues to be displayed, replace the control board.
- Restore power to the unit, enter diagnostics mode, and repeat the tests on the door switch. The F5 E1 code should clear.
