Safety precautions

When working on any appliance, remember to keep safety first. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  • Always power off and unplug your appliance or switch off the circuit breaker before attempting any maintenance or replacement work. This keeps you safe by preventing any risk of injury from electric shock.
  • Wear insulated work gloves to protect your hands from sharp metal parts, pinching hazards and debris.
  • When working with wires, avoid touching any exposed wires or terminals. If you need to touch a wire, use a non-conductive tool or wear insulating gloves to prevent electrical shock.
  • Take your time and don’t rush while working to prevent accidents and personal injuries.
  • Work in a well-lit area so you can clearly see and access the interior parts.
  • Clear your workspace of clutter and other obstacles. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
  • Never work on internal parts with bare wet hands. Make sure the work area is completely dry.
  • Check your user manual to see if there are specific installation or safety instructions for your part or appliance.
  • Be gentle when handling or removing parts. Excessive force might damage the appliance or cause injury.
  • Wear safety glasses when working with chemicals, dust or cleaning large debris to prevent injury.
  • If the appliance has recently been used, give it plenty of time for any heating parts to cool down before working on it.
  • Take pictures or make a note of wiring terminals or other connections before disconnecting to prevent any problems with reassembly.

Installation steps

Step 1: Access the regulator

  1. Make sure the gas supply is turned off.
  2. Pull the bottom storage drawer completely out until it stops. Lift up on the front edge of the drawer. Pull it completely out of the range.
  3. Open the oven door completely. Pull the oven racks straight out until they stop. Lift up slightly on the front edge.
  4. Pull them completely out of the oven.

Step 2: Remove the regulator

  1. Find the regulator assembly, which is usually on the bottom right portion of the oven.
  2. Remove the protective dust cap. Use a 5/8-inch socket to loosen and remove the metal cap. Flip the cap over.
  3. Thread in the metal cap so the hollow end is facing outward.
  4. Use a 5/8-inch socket to tighten the cap.
  5. Reinstall the dust cap.

Step 3: Install the surface orifice

  1. Remove the metal grate and cap.
  2. Use a 3/16-inch nut driver to remove the two screws from each burner
  3. Remove the burner.
  4. Use a ratchet with a 7-millimeter socket to remove the old orifice.
  5. Identify the orifice sizes marked with letters (e.g., D or B) underneath the burner caps. Refer to the instructions to match the letters with the appropriate orifices for propane gas.
  6. Insert the new orifice into the 7-millimeter socket, then thread it in and tighten it.
  7. Reinstall the burner, burner cap and grate.
  8. Repeat the process for the other burners.

Step 4: Adjust the bake burner

  1. The bake burner has an adjustable orifice spud. Use a 1/2-inch wrench to turn the spud clockwise until it bottoms out. Then turn it back about 1-1/2 turns. Tighten it until it’s snug, but don’t overtighten it since that can cause damage.
  2. Turn the gas supply back on to check the flame color. You should see blue flames. If the flames have yellow tips, the spud will need to be adjusted until you have a blue flame.

Step 5: Adjust the broil burner

  1. Open the oven door. Take out the racks.
  2. Use a 1/2-inch wrench to tighten down the spud in the upper back towards the middle.

Step 6: Reinstall the lower drawer assembly

  1. Line up the track with the slider and slide on the drawer assembly.
  2. Press in the retaining tabs to lock the assembly in place before sliding the drawer in.
  3. Double-check that all the burner caps and components are replaced correctly.
  4. Plug in the range and make sure the gas supply is on.
