The motor and blower assembly helps turn the blower wheel so hot air can be pushed through the dryer drum while it’s operating. When this assembly fails, you might experience problems with your clothes drying since the dryer won’t spin and circulate the heat correctly.

With the right tools, part, and safety precautions, you can swap out the broken assembly for a new one and get your dryer running again.

If you need motor and blower assembly DC93-00101N for your Samsung dryer, you can order one here. Most orders arrive in just two business days.

When to replace the motor and blower assembly

The motor and air blower are key parts of your dryer. The motor makes the drum spin, and the air blower moves hot air through the dryer to dry your clothes. When these parts break down, your dryer can’t do its job well.

It may be time to replace the assembly if:

  • You hear strange new noises like grinding or squeaking
  • Your dryer gets too hot and shuts off early
  • It takes a lot longer to get your clothes dry
  • The drum has trouble turning or stops spinning

Let’s get started.

What you need

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Gloves (for handling sharp metal edges)
  • New Samsung dryer motor and blower assembly (DC93-00101N)

Safety precautions

Any time you work on an appliance, safety should be your top concern. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  • Unplug the dryer from the electrical outlet before starting any work to prevent electric shock.
  • Turn off the circuit breaker controlling the dryer circuit at your main electrical panel as an extra precaution to prevent accidental shock.
  • Wear gloves and work cautiously when handling sheet metal components. The thin metal can have extremely sharp edges that can easily cut bare hands.

Replacement instructions

  1. Make sure the dryer is turned off and unplugged.
  2. Remove the top panel of the dryer cabinet so you can access the internal components:
    1. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the top panel – one at each rear corner.
    2. Slide the top panel back about two inches to disengage the locking tabs at the front.
    3. Lift the top panel and set it aside. Take care not to bend or dent the thin metal.
  3. Remove the control panel from the top of the cabinet:
    1. Grip the control panel near one of the top corners. Carefully pull up to release the locking tab on that side.
    2. Tilt the control panel forward slightly. Repeat the process on the opposite top corner to fully release the panel.
    3. Find the two wiring harness plugs going to the control board. Depress the locking tabs and disconnect both plugs.
    4. With the wiring detached, you can now fully remove the control panel and set it aside.
  4. Take off the front panel:
    1. Open the dryer door and use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws at the very bottom corners of the front panel.
    2. Close the door partially to access the top of the panel. Use the screwdriver to remove the four screws securing the top of the panel.
    3. Lift up slightly on the front panel to release the locking tabs. Tilt the panel forward, but be careful not to bend it too far since there’s a wiring harness connected to the door switch that still needs to be detached.
    4. Find the door switch wiring plug. Depress the locking tab and disconnect the plug.
    5. With the wiring unplugged, tilt the front panel forward to clear the bottom hinges. Lift up to fully remove the front panel and set it aside.
  5. Remove the top brace:
    1. Use the screwdriver to remove the five screws securing the top brace – two on each side and one in the center.
    2. Locate the two wiring harness bundles clipped into the retainer on the brace. Carefully unclip the retainers to free the wiring.
    3. Lift off the top brace and move it out of the way. Make sure not to strain or damage any of the wiring in the process.
  6. Find the moisture sensor plug at the center of the blower housing.
  7. Depress the locking tab on the moisture sensor plug and disconnect it from the sensor port.
  8. Detach and remove the internal front bulkhead:
    1. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws from the sides of the bulkhead. You also need to remove the one bottom screw in the center.
    2. Unclip the wiring harness retainer on the bulkhead and free the wiring.
    3. Lift upwards on the bulkhead to disengage the locking tabs. Tilt it forward and out of the cabinet, carefully maneuvering it past the drum and other components.
    4. Set the front bulkhead to the side to allow access to the blower assembly.
  9. Remove the belt and drum:
    1. Reach into the dryer and find the idler pulley arm. Push the arm to release tension on the drive belt.
    2. With the tension relieved, slip the belt off the idler pulley and motor pulley. Allow the idler arm to retract without snapping back.
    3. Carefully lift the drum upwards to clear the rear drum rollers. The drum belt can be pulled up to lift the drum and remove it through the front bulkhead opening.
  10. Find the two wiring harness plugs on the blower housing itself. Depress the locking tabs and disconnect both plugs.
  11. Find the separate plug connecting directly to the motor. Disconnect this wiring plug by releasing the tab and pulling.
  12. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the two screws on the left side of the motor mount bracket.
  13. Remove the single screw on the right side of the bracket. With these screws out, the assembly will detach from the base.
  14. Remove the old motor and blower assembly:
    1. Find and disconnect the last wiring plug coming from the broken belt switch on the assembly.
    2. Carefully slide the entire assembly towards the right to detach it from the mounting lug.
    3. Tilt the front of the assembly forward to clear the rear exhaust duct. Maneuver it out through the front bulkhead opening.
  15. Thoroughly clean out the interior cabinet before installing the new part.
  16. Install the new motor assembly:
    1. Position the new assembly near the opening and tilt it to insert the rear blower housing into the exhaust duct.
    2. Slide the assembly fully to the left so the base bracket tabs are inserted into the mounting slots on the base.
    3. Insert and tighten the three motor mount screws with the Phillips screwdriver.
    4. Make sure the assembly is correctly aligned and secure.
  17. Reinstall the drum and belt:
    1. Using the belt to support the back of the drum, guide the drum into the cabin by holding onto the front, then lift the rear of the drum over the support rollers.
    2. Reach into the dryer and loop the belt over the idler pulley.
    3. Pull the idler arm forward and roll the belt onto the motor pulley. Release the idler arm slowly.
    4. Rotate the drum manually for one full spin. Make sure the belt stays firmly seated on the pulleys.
  18. Reinstall the front bulkhead:
    1. With the internal components back in place, you can insert the front edge of the bulkhead into the drum opening.
    2. Tilt the bulkhead back and insert the side locking tabs into their slots.
    3. Reconnect the moisture sensor wiring plug. Make sure it clicks securely into place.
    4. Use the Phillips screwdriver to reinsert and tighten the five screws that hold the bulkhead to the cabinet.
  19. Reinstall braces and panels:
    1. Position the top brace over the internal wiring harnesses. Align the brace tabs with the corresponding slots on the cabinet top.
    2. Secure the brace with the five Phillips head screws previously removed. Make sure all wiring is contained within the harnesses.
    3. Plug the two wiring harness connectors back into the control panel.
    4. Tilt the panel into place and press down to lock the tabs.
    5. Carefully reconnect the door switch wiring plug on the front panel. Tilt the panel onto the front cabinet. Align the bottom hinges first, then press the top into place.
    6. Insert and tighten the two bottom screws and four top screws to securely mount the front panel.
    7. Slide the top panel forward to engage the locking tabs. Secure with the two rear corner screws.
    8. Double-check all screws, panels, and wiring connections to make sure everything is correctly reassembled.
  20. Test the dryer:
    1. Reconnect electrical power supply to the dryer.
    2. Turn on the circuit breaker that controls the dryer circuit.
    3. Run the dryer through a full cycle to make sure it operates correctly. Listen for any unusual noises or symptoms. With good airflow and heat, the dryer should now dry your clothes normally.
