What is the water valve seal & why would it need to be replaced?
The water inlet valve seal forms a watertight seal around the water inlet valve. It helps prevent leaks by sealing the connection between the water inlet valve and the washing machine’s internal tubing. Minor leaks can often be fixed by simply swapping out the worn seal.
To do this, you’ll need to access the valve itself, which sits at the back of the machine. With a little patience and the right tools, you can have your GE washer fixed up in no time.
Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve seal include:
- Water leaking from the back or underside of the washing machine
- Visible signs of wear or damage to the seal
- Unexplained increase in water usage or utility bills, which may indicate a slow leak
