Safety precautions
When working on any appliance, remember to keep safety first. Here are some tips to keep in mind:
- Always power off and unplug your appliance or switch off the circuit breaker before you attempt any maintenance or replacement work. This keeps you safe by preventing any risk of electric shock.
- Turn off the water supply at the outlet before beginning repairs. Keep towels ready to catch any residual water in the system when removing parts.
- If the appliance has recently been used, give it plenty of time to cool down before working on it.
- Take your time while working to prevent accidents and personal injuries. Rushing is the enemy of precision.
- Work in a well-lit area so you can clearly see and access appliance parts.
- Keep your workspace free of clutter and other obstacles. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
- Check the user manual to see if there are specific installation or safety instructions related to your appliance or replacement part.
- Be gentle when handling or removing parts. Excessive force might damage the appliance or cause personal injury.
- Wear insulated work gloves to protect your hands from sharp metal parts and debris.
- When working with wires, avoid touching any exposed wires or terminals. If you need to touch a wire, use a non-conductive tool or wear insulating gloves to prevent electrical shock.

How to replace the cutter grid
- Unplug the ice machine from the power outlet.
- Shut off the water supply to the machine.
- Find the access cover, which is usually on the front or top of the appliance. Use a 1/4-inch nut driver to unthread the screws that hold the access cover to the control panel. If the access cover is difficult to remove, you can use a putty knife to help pry it free. Gently insert the putty knife between the cover and the appliance and apply slight pressure to loosen it.
- Find the ice bin thermistor wire connector and the cutting grid wire connector inside. These are usually located near the control panel or the ice bin area.
- Disconnect the ice bin thermistor wire connector and the cutting grid wire connector. Carefully detach the connectors by pulling them apart.
- Unthread the two mounting screws that hold the cutting grid to the bracket and liner. These screws are typically located on the sides or top of the cutting grid.
- Slide out the old cutting grid from the bracket and liner. Pull the grid straight out to remove it.
- If there’s a right-side spacer attached to the old grid, transfer it to the new one. Make sure the spacer is aligned on the right side of the grid.
- Align the new cutting grid on the bracket and liner in the machine. Make sure it’s positioned correctly and matches the placement of the old grid.
- Thread the mounting screws back into the bracket and liner to secure the new cutting grid in place. Tighten the screws firmly but don’t overtighten them.
- Reconnect the cutting grid wire connector and the thermistor wire connector. Align the connectors and push them together until they snap into place.
- Align the bottom edge of the access cover so the ice scoop housing rests on top of it.
- Secure the access cover in place by threading and tightening the screws. Make sure all the screws are tightened to hold the cover.
- Restore the water supply to the machine.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn the ice machine on.
