Errors D75, D80, D90, or D95

If the dryer displays a D75, D80, D90, or D95 code, it indicates that the dryer’s exhaust duct is clogged. The number corresponds to the percentage of blockage.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Check for lint buildup at the rear exhaust duct, as it can cause long drying times.
  2. Inspect the entire exhaust duct to make sure it is not crushed, kinked, or damaged.
  3. For gas dryers, a D80 code may indicate a lack of gas supply. Check that there is good gas supply to the unit.
  4. Check the exterior part of the house while the dryer is running to see if exhaust air is blowing outside.

Errors NP, PS or PF

An “NP” code indicates a problem with the electrical wiring in the home, and no current is being detected at the heater.

A “PS” code indicates improper voltage within the power cord, which could be caused by the white and red wires being reversed on the dryer’s terminal block.

A “PF” code often occurs after a power outage.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Make sure the power cord is securely plugged into a grounded outlet that matches the dryer’s rating plate of 240 volts.
  2. Turn off the dryer circuit breaker for at least 10 seconds to clear any errors from a power surge. Restore power to the dryer and try running a cycle.
  3. Check the home’s AC outlet to make sure it’s providing the correct voltage supply.
  4. If the dryer is running but not heating, check if half of the breaker circuit is tripped.

Error D or E

A “D” or ”E” error code means a problem with the door, indicating that the dryer door is not completely closed.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Open the door and ensure the lint filter is pushed all the way in, and there is no clothing stuck on the door.
  2. If the appliance has been moved recently or is newly installed, check for damage, such as a bent door.
  3. Reset the unit by unplugging it or tripping the circuit breaker, then wait five seconds and plug it back in.
  4. Close the door firmly, select any cycle, and press Start.
  5. If the dryer displays the D or E code again, check the door latch for damage.
  6. Test the door switch and replace if bad.
  7. Replace the control board if the door switch tests okay.

Error HS

An “HS” error code suggests a humidity sensor fault. This can affect the dryer’s ability to properly sense and adjust drying times.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Clean the sensors located below the lint filter using a damp rag or paper towel, and allow them to fully dry before running another cycle.
  2. Make sure there are no wet items directly on the sensor bars.
  3. If the HS code persists, the humidity sensor may need to be tested and replaced.

Error TE1, TE2 or TE3

LG dryer error codes TE1, TE2, and TE3 indicate issues with the dryer’s thermistors. The thermistor measures the temperature inside the dryer so that it operates safely.

TE1 indicates a problem with the main thermistor (also known as a temperature sensor).

TE2 signifies an issue with the outlet thermistor, which is typically relevant for models with steam cycles.

TE3 points to a fault with the exhaust thermistor, measuring the temperature of the air exiting the dryer.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Remove and clean the lint filter. Check the dryer’s venting system for any blockages that could restrict airflow and clean as necessary. This helps prevent overheating and ensures accurate temperature readings.
  2. Check each thermistor for lint build-up, damage, or loose connections. Clean the thermistors and their surrounding areas thoroughly.
  3. If you have a multimeter, you can perform a continuity test on the thermistors. A good thermistor will show a resistance value around 10K ohms at room temperature.

Error LE

An “LE” error code indicates a problem with the drum turning which may be due to overloading, a power issue, or the motor itself.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Reset the dryer by unplugging it (or turning off the circuit breaker), waiting a minute, and then restoring power.
  2. Make sure that the dryer is not overloaded, as this can strain the motor. Empty the drum so that it is no more than half full before starting again.
  3. If the problem persists, the motor may need to be tested and replaced.

Error FO, Clean Filter or Insert Filter

An FO code or flashing “Insert Filter” message indicates that the lint filter is out. Remove the lint filter and reinsert it into the filter housing. The Check Filter indicator is a reminder to clean the lint filter before each use. The indicator turns off when you select a drying program or press the Start/Pause button.

If the error continues:

  1. Clean the lint filter thoroughly.
  2. Check the vent hose and external vent for blockages.
  3. Restart the dryer after checking and cleaning to see if the error is resolved.

CL or Child Lock

A CL code being displayed indicates that the Child Lock feature is activated. To deactivate the Child Lock, press and hold the Temp and Time buttons simultaneously for three seconds. The CL code should disappear, and the control panel will be unlocked.

CD or CO

“CD” and “CO” error codes indicate that the dryer is in “Cool Down” mode or has completed its cycle but is reminding you that clothes are inside. To clear this message:

  1. Open and close the dryer door to check if the message clears.
  2. Remove the dried clothes from the dryer.
  3. If the dryer is not in use and these codes appear, it may be a reminder to clean the lint filter or check the vent for proper airflow.
