We'll need to remove this clip to proceed.<\/span>\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stand the ice maker housing upright again so you can access the front.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Locate the e-clip on the front center of the housing.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Insert a flathead screwdriver into the gap in the e-clip.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gently pry or flex the clip outward until it pops off the shaft.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Set this e-clip aside with the cover you removed earlier.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taking off the washer<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the e-clip detached, a washer is now accessible that must also be removed.<\/span>\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carefully turn over the ice maker housing again.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A metal washer should slide off the center shaft.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remove this washer and set it with your parts.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Removing the crusher cover<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next, we need to remove the cover over the ice crusher mechanism itself. This involves taking out several small screws.<\/span>\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use a 1\/4\" nut driver to remove the two screws holding on the crusher cover. These will be on the underside.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once the screws are out, you can detach the small bar linking the cover to the freezer door. Unhook it from the door side.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the bar unhooked, lift off the plastic crusher cover to expose the crusher blades.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Set aside the crusher cover safely with your other parts.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taking off the auger nut and blades<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the crusher housing open, you can now access and remove the auger nut and blades, including the crusher blade you'll replace.<\/span>\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Locate the hex nut holding the auger shaft and blades together. You may be able to loosen this by hand. If not, use pliers gently to break it free.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once loosened, unscrew and remove the nut completely. Set it aside.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ice crusher blades are stacked on the shaft with plastic spacers separating them. Note the order and orientation of the blades for reassembly later.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remove the blades\/spacers one by one until only the crusher blade remains on the shaft.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Replacing the crusher blade<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now you're ready to swap out the old crusher blade for a new one.<\/span>\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take note of which direction the old crusher blade is facing on the shaft.
