If something in the text isn\u2019t clear, don\u2019t forget to check out our detailed how-to video for a closer look at the process.<\/p>\n<h3>Tools for the Job<\/h3>\n<p>Replacing oven door hinges doesn\u2019t require many tools, but do make sure you have these handy before you begin:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Compatible replacement oven door hinges<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Phillips &amp; flathead screwdrivers<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Work gloves<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">A flat work surface, like a table, lined with towels or a blanket to protect the oven door<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Replacing an Oven Door Hinge<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Before you begin<\/b>, make sure you disconnect the appliance from its power source either at the wall outlet or circuit breaker. Never complete maintenance or repairs on an appliance that is still receiving power, and definitely allow your oven to cool completely before beginning this job!<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Lock the hinges to hold the door open while you remove it.<\/b> Your oven hinges will likely have brackets that can be moved down to lock the hinges into an open position. Lock that oven door into a 45\u00b0 open position. This will make it easier to remove the door.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>With the door locked at 45\u00b0, you can pull it off the body.<\/b> Grip it firmly with both hands and lift up to pull it away from the oven body. Set the oven door on a flat surface like a table \u2013 not the stovetop \u2013 to make the rest of this job a little easier.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Remove all the screws holding the inner and outer door lining together.<\/b> There are four screws on each hinge, three screws on each side of the door, two or three screws across the top holding the trim and handle on, and one screw at the bottom in the middle. You may need to steady the door as you remove more of these as it will want to fall apart.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Set the trim and handle out of the way.<\/b> They\u2019ll fall off just as soon as you\u2019ve removed the hardware holding them on.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Take the side trim pieces off.<\/b> If they don\u2019t come away by hand, you can pry them off with a small screwdriver.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Push the hinges up and then lift the inner panel off.<\/b> It will be locked in place on a couple of tabs at the top. Just lift up to free it from those.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Remove the hinges. <\/b>You\u2019ll need to lift up on that inner metal plate to free them.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Install the new hinges. <\/b>Lift the inner metal plate and set each new hinge in its channel on either side of the oven door.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Put the inner door panel back on.<\/b> Make sure to seat the metal tabs at the top of the panel first and keep the insulation in place. You will probably have to slide each hinge up slightly to get the inner door panel all the way down.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Install the two bottom mounting screws for each hinge.<\/b> The hinges do not come pre-threaded, so this may be more difficult than expected, but you should be able to do it!<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Install the two upper mounting screws for each hinge.<\/b> You may have to press down on the inner door panel to get the screw holes to line up.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Install the bottom middle screw on the oven door.<\/b><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Reinstall the side trim pieces.<\/b> To start, you\u2019ll need to slide the oven door glass away from the side you\u2019re installing the trim on. You may have to rotate the trim slightly, too, to get it into place. It\u2019s held in by a couple of locking tabs that you will need to ensure are seated properly. Once one side is in, push the oven door glass in the opposite direction and repeat the process on the other side, then make sure you center the glass back in the middle of the door.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Reinstall the screws that hold the door together.<\/b> You may need to press up on the interior metal frame to get the holes to line up properly. Start by installing one screw on each side to hold the frame and panels into place.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Reinstall the handle assembly.<\/b> Make sure that the trim is properly aligned with the frame and glass. To do this, you need to press the assembly in at each side, and make sure the glass is seated properly on the assembly\u2019s center tab. Check out our video tutorial for a more detailed visual guide to seating this part properly.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Reinstall the top screws to secure the handle assembly.<\/b><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Put the oven door back on.<\/b> Lock your new hinges at 45\u00b0, the way you did with the old hinges when you removed the door. Each hinge will have a notch at the bottom that you need to seat onto a metal bracket on the oven frame.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Once the door is mounted again, open it all the way and push the locking tabs back up into the hinges<\/b> so that your oven door isn\u2019t locked. Once they\u2019re pushed back, you can open and close the oven door normally.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Wrapping Up<\/h2>\n<p>Your final step is to restore power to your range and give it a test. Make sure the oven is closing properly and that there isn\u2019t too much resistance when you open and shut the door. Check that the oven light shuts off, and that there aren\u2019t any heat leaks around the door seam. If everything looks good, your install was a success.
