Here&#8217;s how to test it:<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Use a spark tester<\/h3>\n<p>A spark tester lets you see if the ignition coil&#8217;s making a spark to get the engine going.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Hook up the spark tester:<\/strong> Connect the tester between the spark plug boot and the spark plug.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Try starting the engine:<\/strong> Give the starter cord a pull like you usually do.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Watch for spark:<\/strong> Keep an eye on the tester&#8217;s window for a spark while you&#8217;re cranking.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check what you see:<\/strong> If there&#8217;s a good spark, the ignition coil&#8217;s probably okay. Remove the spark plug<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Unplug the spark plug wire:<\/strong> Carefully pull off the spark plug boot.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Take out the spark plug:<\/strong> Use your spark plug wrench or that \u00be-inch socket to remove the spark plug. Disassemble the leaf blower<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Take off the blower housing:<\/strong> Grab your Torx bit (probably T-20 or T-27) and unscrew the housing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remove the cylinder cover:<\/strong> Undo any extra screws and set the cover somewhere safe.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remove the fan impeller:<\/strong> Carefully unthread the bolts holding the impeller so you can get to the ignition coil.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Disconnect the ignition coil<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Unscrew the ignition coil:<\/strong> Find the coil and remove the screws holding it down.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Detach the ground wire:<\/strong> You might need pliers to disconnect the ground wire from the coil.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remove the grommet:<\/strong> Gently take off any grommets or sleeves from the wires.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Take out the ignition coil:<\/strong> Lift out the faulty coil from the blower.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Install the new ignition coil<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Transfer wire sleeves:<\/strong> If your new coil doesn&#8217;t have the wire sleeve or grommet, move them over from the old one.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Position the new coil:<\/strong> Place it in position, lining up the mounting holes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reattach the ground wire:<\/strong> Connect the ground wire to the new coil.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Set the air gap:<\/strong> Slip a business card or some thick paper between the coil and flywheel to set the right gap.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Screw down the coil:<\/strong> While holding it against the card and flywheel, tighten the screws.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remove the card:<\/strong> Rotate the flywheel to pull out the card without moving the coil.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Reassemble the leaf blower<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Put the fan impeller back:<\/strong> Secure the impeller assembly onto the engine.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Replace the cylinder cover:<\/strong> Put the cover back and tighten the screws.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reattach the blower housing:<\/strong> Line up the housing and screw it back on with the Torx bit.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reinstall the spark plug:<\/strong> Screw the spark plug back in and tighten it. A dab of dish soap can help the spark plug boot slide on easier.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reconnect the spark plug wire:<\/strong> Push the boot back onto the spark plug until it&#8217;s snug.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6.
