Be sure to turn off the power to your range at the breaker and shut off the gas supply. Verify it&#8217;s off by attempting to ignite a burner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Okay, with that taken care of, you&#8217;re ready to begin!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step-by-Step Instructions<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Follow these steps to safely replace your gas range electrode clip:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take off all burner grates and caps (lift straight up). Set them aside somewhere safe.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lift out the drip pans &#8211; this exposes the screws you need access to next.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use a putty knife to gently detach the push-on electrode wires from each electrode terminal.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There will be 2-4 electrodes, depending on your range.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pull the wires up and out of the way.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use the socket wrench to loosen (not fully remove) the mounting nuts at the base of each electrode.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grab a putty knife and insert it about 2 inches from each corner of the cooktop to release the edges.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carefully lift up the cooktop and slide it out. Watch for any caught wires.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fully disconnect the electrode wires and set the cooktop aside.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now you can access the underside of the cooktop where the electrodes are.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use needle nose pliers to squeeze and remove each old electrode clip. These just pull straight out.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take each new clip and push it into place on the electrode stem.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Position the clip so the open side is facing out, allowing the electrode to move freely.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make sure the clip is fully snapped in.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carefully slide the cooktop back into position. Feed the electrode wires through the openings.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reattach the electrode wires to the terminals &#8211; push firmly until they click.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tighten down the mounting nuts using your socket wrench.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Set the drip pans back into their spots.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Return the burner caps and grates.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That&#8217;s it &#8211; you just replaced the electrode clip!
