Access the defrost heater<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Turn off the fridge and unplug it from the power source.<\/li>\n<li>Turn off the water supply to the fridge at the outlet.<\/li>\n<li>Open the freezer door.<\/li>\n<li>Lift the right side of the freezer shelf and slide the shelf to the right.<\/li>\n<li>Lift the opposite end of the shelf and remove it.<\/li>\n<li>Use a 1\/4-inch nut driver to remove the two screws that hold the freezer floor panel in place.<\/li>\n<li>Use the nut driver to slide out the freezer floor panel.<\/li>\n<li>Find the ice maker inlet cover in the top left corner of the rear evaporator cover and remove the screw holding it.<\/li>\n<li>Release the tab and disconnect the power plug from the ice maker inlet cover.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the green ground wire.<\/li>\n<li>Use the 1\/4-inch nut driver to remove the two screws holding the rear cover panel.<\/li>\n<li>Lift the panel up and out of the freezer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2 &#8211;\u00a0 Remove the old defrost heater<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the tab and disconnect the power plug of the old defrost heater.<\/li>\n<li>Release the heater wire from the retainers around the evaporator coils.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the two foam insulators on either side of the evaporator.<\/li>\n<li>Use needle-nose pliers to bend the bottom locking tab and release the old defrost heater.<\/li>\n<li>Pull the heater out of the clamp on the left to remove it.<\/li>\n<li>Use the 1\/4-inch nut driver to remove the screw and detach the drain heater clip from the old heater.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3 &#8211; Install the new defrost heater<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Install the drain heater clip onto the new defrost heater without tightening it yet.<\/li>\n<li>Place the new defrost heater with the plug on the left side around the evaporator coil.<\/li>\n<li>Insert the drain heater clip into the opening and snap the left side of the heater into the clip.<\/li>\n<li>Use needle-nose pliers to close the locking tabs on all three brackets.<\/li>\n<li>Use the nut driver to tighten the drain clip.<\/li>\n<li>Connect the heater power plug and secure the wire into the retainer.<\/li>\n<li>Place both foam insulators back on the sides of the evaporator between the coils.<\/li>\n<li>Install the cover panel with the air duct first, then push it back.<\/li>\n<li>Use the nut driver to secure the cover panel with the two screws.<\/li>\n<li>Attach the green ground wire.<\/li>\n<li>Plug in the ice maker power plug.<\/li>\n<li>Place the small cover on and use the nut driver to secure it with the screw.<\/li>\n<li>Slide the floor panel back in and secure it with the two 1\/4-inch screws.<\/li>\n<li>Slide the freezer shelf into the holes on the right side and then into the holes on the left side.<\/li>\n<li>Close the freezer door.<\/li>\n<li>Plug the refrigerator in and turn on the water supply.<\/li>\n<li>Allow the fridge to run for a few hours to make sure the fan is working and blowing air into the refrigerator compartment.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Read more: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.appliancepartspros.com\/b\/refrigerator-will-not-defrost-top-6-reasons-and-fixes-for-kenmore-whirlpool-frigidaire-ge-and-other-brands-with-video\/\"><strong>Refrigerator Not Defrosting: Top 6 Reasons &amp;
