The NTC sensor monitors the temperature of the water during the dishwasher&#8217;s wash and rinse cycles. Depending on the model, it\u2019s on or near the heating element and detects resistance changes as the water heats up. The resistance decreases as the temperature rises.<\/p>\n<p>If the control module isn\u2019t receiving the expected resistance values from the sensor, it will trigger the E2 error. To access it:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Unplug the dishwasher from the power outlet &amp; shut off the water supply.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the outer door panel and side access panel.<\/li>\n<li>Find the heating element assembly mounted to the plastic tub near the bottom.<\/li>\n<li>Find the round NTC sensor attached to the element housing. It will have two wire leads.<\/li>\n<li>Use needle-nose pliers to gently detach the wire connectors from the NTC sensor prongs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Test the NTC<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Set a multimeter to resistance moded, usually indicated by the Greek symbol omega (\u03a9).<\/li>\n<li>Touch the meter probes to the two NTC wire terminals.<\/li>\n<li>Check the meter reading. The resistance should fall within the acceptable range shown in the temperature\/resistance chart provided in the service manual for your specific Bosch dishwasher model. Resistance values should typically be around 55K Ohms at room temperature.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you get a reading that\u2019s out 0, infinite or out of the acceptable resistance range, then the NTC is faulty and needs to be replaced.<\/p>\n<p>If the NTC is good, we can continue troubleshooting.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Check the sensor wiring<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Remove and reinstall the wire connectors. Make sure they\u2019re secure.<\/li>\n<li>Check for any damaged wiring and replace it as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Look for any damaged wiring insulation. If you find any that\u2019s burned or cut, replace it.<\/li>\n<li>Set a multimeter to continuity mode.<\/li>\n<li>Use the meter probes to check for continuity from end to end through the circuit. The meter should make an audible beep if there\u2019s continuity.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If there\u2019s no continuity, replace the wiring. If there is continuity, move on to the next step.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4: Retest at the control module<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check the service schematic to determine which pins correspond to the NTC input on your model.<\/li>\n<li>At the module, find the NTC sensor input pins. Detach the two wires that connect to those pins.<\/li>\n<li>Set the multimeter to resistance mode (\u03a9).<\/li>\n<li>Use your multimeter probes to measure the resistance directly at the control module.<\/li>\n<li>Check the meter reading. If the resistance no longer matches what\u2019s on the NTC chart, then the control module&#8217;s input circuit could be the problem.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the NTC sensor and wiring are good at this point, replace the control module as a last resort. On some dishwasher models, the NTC sensor is integrated into the control module circuit board.
