If the belt is loose or broken, it will need to be replaced.<\/p>\n<p>If the belt is in good condition, continue troubleshooting.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Check the belt switch<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Find the belt switch, which is positioned next to the motor and idler pulley arm.<\/li>\n<li>Set your multimeter to continuity mode.<\/li>\n<li>Place the meter probes on the switch terminals and move the idler pulley to the same position it would be in with the belt on.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Check the meter. It should make a beeping sound if there\u2019s continuity (good). If you don\u2019t get continuity, then the belt switch needs to be replaced.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4: Test the motor<\/h3>\n<p>If the previous steps did not reveal the issue, the motor is likely the problem. To make sure:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Disconnect the wires from the motor terminals.<\/li>\n<li>Set your multimeter to resistance mode (\u03a9).<\/li>\n<li>Place the meter probes on terminals 5 and 4 of the motor.<\/li>\n<li>Check the meter reading. The resistance should be between 4.1 to 4.9 Ohms.<\/li>\n<li>Activate the centrifugal switch on the motor. When you do this, the resistance should change to 4 Ohms.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the resistance readings are outside of these ranges, the motor will need to be replaced.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to reassemble the dryer after making repairs<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Install the drum and belt.
