The Filter Ball is an OEM replacement part for GE dishwashers. As a key internal filtration component, it helps trap and remove food soils and other residue from washing water to maintain hygienic cleanliness standards.

Causes of a bad filter ball can include worn filter mesh that no longer adequately strains soils or substances that pass through more readily over time.

Symptoms of a bad filter ball include:

  • Dirty wash water that fails to fully sanitize dishes
  • Cloudy rinse water that leaves behind streaks and residue
  • Excess food debris collecting in drainage areas

This GE replacement filter ball is also compatible with some Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore dishwashers.

Ronald, Typically the filter ball will not go bad but could become smaller and would need to replace if this is the case.

Gedwman, The filter ball would not have any bearing on the unit not draining. You will want to check to make sure that the drain hose is not clogged. If a new disposal has been installed make sure that the knock out was taken out of the disposal where the drain would go. Make sure that the drain hose goes to a 32" loop before going to the sink drain.

Hello Gedwman, This sounds more like an issue with the drain valve inside the sump assembly. This is only available by ordering the complete pump and motor assembly WD26X10034.

Denny for Model Number HDA2000V00WW

Old Motor runs through all cycles, but it will not drain, have checked disposal to see that the knock out had been removed, have blown air through the drain tube,(drain tube is open) have taken the Impeller assembly apart, (parts show little if any wear at all)have checked the solenoid,& it works up & down to open the drain flap Per your Tech's advice I ordered,& installed a new motor/pump assembly, still will not drain. This Dishwasher was purchased as a "Used Item", so I was rechecking the motor/pump picture(#3), & noticed I'm missing an" Orange Ball Filter " could the missing piece be the cause of my problem !?, if so where does the ball filter sit?

1 Answer

Hello Denny. If there is power to the pump, but it does not drain, replace the drain pump on the unit.

Hello Pernell. There is a track inside the sump. The ball sits on top of the track in the sump assembly.

Hi. The ball is in the wrong side. It goes into the top of the nozzle tube on the left side of the sump inlet part # WD18X10039. If the ball has gotten chewed up by the motor chopper blade it causes the noise mentioned. Orange ball part # WD12X10408. Thank You.
