Jim, If a hard reset (killing the power for several minutes) doesn't clear it then it will likely need a dispenser board.

Hello Brian, if only the auger motor is running but the flapper over the ice chute is closed, likely the auger motor relay on the main control board is stuck closed, the board is part WR55X10942C.

Steve, WIth the unit not cooling and the display not working then this would most likely be a Main control board issue.

My chilled water line was iceing up so I replaced the dispenser water tube heater which had corrected the issue in the past. This time the problem remained so I checked all the connections to the heater and found them to be good. I than checked the voltage to the tube heater and found 0 volts. I also checked the voltage at pins 2 & 6 on the PCB and found that to be 0 also. all other functions and lights on the PCB and refrigerator appear to be working properly. It would appear there is no power going to / from pin 2 on the PCB. Is this a bad PCB or is something else I should be looking at?

Matt, it is unlikely that the touchpad would be the issue unless the ice dispensed with the original touchpad. If ice did not dispense with the original touchpad, you may want to test the auger assembly for incoming voltage. If the auger motor is receiving voltage when the dispenser is activated and the door switch is pressed, then the auger motor WR17X11456 has failed.

WR55X23210 Freezer coils freeze up not cool in the fridge. Replaced defrost thermostat and the three thermistors, and the defrost heater. Found defrost thermostat was the wrong number...unit worked for 20 days and the same problem developed...frozen coils. Replace mother board...found where someone had added silicon around one capacitor. The unit worked for a week and back to frozen coils. I also added a defrost wire by the water tube as it would freeze up when the unit was running correctly. That worked fine and took care of the frozen water line. The temperature control board appears to be working ok as lights, light and you can adjust temp. Ideas? Could I have a bad defrost thermostat which works intermittently? or ??? I purchased this unit used and am thinking that it may have had this problem in the past since I found the defrost thermostat had been replaced and the motherboard had been worked on. Thanks for the help.

Andy for Model Number GSH25JSTASS

We are having problem with our water dispenser. The front panel appears to work fine. All the LEDs are good, and switching between the functions worked. Ice dispenses fine. Issue started out with water not dispensing. Some time later, it dispenses a cup full, then stops, and trickles for a while. Sometimes the water won't stop dispensing but after a cup or two, it'd stop. It finally went nuts and started dispensing water non-stop on its own. We tried opening the freezer door which normally would stop the water flow but that didn't work. After about 10 gallons of water, we were able to stop the water from dispensing by removing the water filter. Are you able to let us know what part we would need to fix this issue?

Andy, you will want to test the water valve [WR57X10032] at the yellow and orange wire for 120VAC, if the valve is not receiving the voltage, then the valve is bad and not closing. If the water valve is receiving 120VAC, then you will want to test the dispenser switch [WR23X10783] for continuity. When this switch is not engaged, it should not have continuity. If the switch has continuity when it is not engaged, then it is bad. If the switch tests good, then the most likely issue would be with the main control [WR55X10942P] not opening the relay for the valve and shutting the valve off (if the valve is receiving 120VAC).

Front panel leds all seem to work fine, switching between water, ice and light. Ice dispenses as expected. The problem we are having is with the water dispenser. It works erratically. Not dispensing, then at times, dispensing a cup full and then stop, and trickles for a while even without the dispenser being touched. It finally went nuts and started dispensing water on its own. We were unable to get it to stop by opening the freezer door. Went through about 10 gallons of this and finally got it to stop by removing the water filter. Are you able to let us know what part we need to replace for this issue?

1 Answer

Andy, there may be an issue with the water valve or with the switch assembly. If you could provide the model number for your appliance, the most accurate information possible can be given.
