Carl September 15, 2015 for Model Number JGBS07PEH1WW My GE oven no longer works; it's no igniting. I removed the Ignitor; Model 501A, 223C3381G003, 0316 and measured for Ohms with my Fluke, says 206 ohms. Is this the correct spec for this part? Is it possible the unit can have a crack and still give a good ohms reading? thanks in advance, Carl
1 Answer Hello Carl. It will not ohm out good with a crack. You need to do this test. Test for 3.0-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

2 Answers Oven woes, Remove the igniter and check the black carborundum area of the igniter. If there is a white colored spot, that would indicate a crack in the igniter. That could have occurred during shipping. It is not unusual to find a defective igniter in the box. They are pretty fragile. Of course you need to check and make sure the wiring isn't pinched or shorted to the chassis, also. Read More...

Don June 27, 2014 for Model Number RGB790SEH2SA Hotpoint My oven ignitor is bad. The parts list calls out for a GE WB2X9154 round style, I have a GE WB13K21 square style. It fits the mounting bracket and lights the oven. Is there an operational difference that could cause an issue?
1 Answer Hello Don, The primary difference is the amperage needed to heat the ignitor to the temperature necessary to ignite the gas. The round one will light the gas sooner and this should make a difference when cooking by recipe. The round one WB2X9154 should be installed in this unit. Read More...
Brendan C March 01, 2014 for Model Number 317B6641P001 I replaced the ignitor, and now it the oven takes at least one minute to ignite. I smell the gas prior to it igniting. I read that you mentioned a safety valve. Is the gas valve supposed to stay closed until the ignitor is hot enough? just wondering if that could be a problem, or is it normal to have the gas smell.
1 Answer Brenden, You will want to double check to make sure that the igniter is positioned properly on the burner. Also check to make sure that there is nothing clogging the ports of the burner itself. If all this checks ok then the oven safety valve would most likely be the issue. Read More...
Romano February 22, 2014 for Model Number Chambers 24" Double Oven Model # HBO-246390 igniter It takes gas almost five-min. to light after igniter comes on with merely an orange glow. So I think a new igniter might be in order since I believe a healthy igniter should come on with either a yellow or white glow. Please provide the following information: 1) What is current range for this igniter to work effectively? 2) I can't locate any reference to the Chambers Model # HBO-246390. What part no./mfg is suitable for this chambers double oven? 3) What is price of this igniter ... as I may need to replace all three of them? Thanks, Romano
1 Answer Hello Romano. The model number you provided is not showing available. Make sure it is correct and if so, we can not suggest a part. Read More...
Average Joe February 03, 2014 for Model Number viking vgrc365 The oven will not light. The igniters glow, but only draw 2.7 amps and they are to draw 3.3 to 3.6 amps to allow the gas valve to open. Would I be correct in thinking the igniters need to be replaced?
1 Answer Hello Joe You are correct. There has to be enough current drawn by the ignitor to build a strong enough electromagnetic field in the coils to open the gas valves. If the amperage draw is low, the ignitor is normally weak and in need of replacement. Read More...
David January 30, 2014 My oven will not ignite and when I took the igniter out I don't see any visible crack or damage. Could the igniter still be bad?
Joeb November 12, 2013 I need to replace the glow igniter on my 48" Wolf Gourmet gas range I cant find the model # will any flat style work?
