This motor stator is the stationary windings for a direct-drive washer motor. Working with the rotor, it creates the magnetic field that turns the basket. Replacing a failed stator restores consistent wash and spin performance. What it does

  • Provides the fixed windings for the direct-drive motor
  • Works with the rotor to spin and tumble the basket
  • Failure can cause no spin/tumble, intermittent movement, or loud humming
  • May lead to motor/speed-related error codes and cycle shutdowns
What's included
  • 1 motor stator assembly
Install notes
  • Disconnect power before servicing; allow moving parts to stop
  • Access is typically from the rear; remove the rotor to expose the stator
  • Handle the rotor's strong magnets carefully and keep metal objects clear
  • Route and seat the wiring exactly as original; tighten mounting bolts evenly

Mitchell, as the error 50 indicates that the rps sensor is not detecting the movement of the rotor, it would be recommended that the spin basket is checked to ensure it is able to rotate freely. If it does not rotate freely, the unit will need to be inspected for what could be causing it to be seized. If it does rotate freely, the wires would need to be inspected for any sections that may have been pinched or broken.

Tom, To remove the rotor, you may need to use a pry bar or large flat blade screwdriver and pry it off. It is being held with the magnets and will be difficult to get loose.

Pete, The stator being cracked does not necessarily mean that the stator is bad. The stator can work with cracks in it but what may eventually start happening is the unit can get off balance due to the cracks and at that point you would certainly want to replace the stator.
