Roger June 15, 2020 for Model Number JS48SEDBDA My daughter has a Jenn Air model JS48SEDBDA side by side that has an intermittent cooling problem. It will work fine for a week or two, then both refrigerator and freezer will warm up. From my research, I'm thinking it's an auto-defrost issue. Looking at your diagrams and other users' inputs, I suspect the defrost thermostat or drip pan heater. What confuses me, however, is the item called the thermistor. What is its function versus the defrost thermostat? I know it measures temperature of the evaporator, but for what reason? Also, several people commented about running service diagnostics. Not having a service manual, how is that done? Where can I get a service manual? One last question, how do you properly remove the drip pan? I don't want to damage it or the evaporator.
1 Answer Roger, the evaporator thermistor is used by the main control to identify when the evaporator reaches specific temperatures during a defrost cycle. It is used to identify when the evaporator reaches the temperature necessary to indicate that the defrost heater has properly heated the evaporator section as necessary. In regards to the temperatures getting warm, the evaporator would need to be inspected to identify if the evaporator is blocked up with ice (which would indicate a defrost issue). While the evaporator is being inspected, if the unit is in a defrost cycle there should not be any fans operating at that time. If the evaporator fan is operating during a defrost cycle, it can cause this symptom and would normally indicate either a failing relay in the main control WP67006853 or a shorted fan motor 12002054 (fan motor has been discontinued by the manufacturer). Leslie P. May 30, 2017 for Model Number Dacor EF42BDCBSS (2007) My freezer is not chilling as low it is supposed to (25-28 deg F instead of zero). I ran the diagnostics and Service Test 05 told me that my evaporator thermistor was an open circuit. I confirmed this with Service Test 23. Problem is, when I search for an evaporator thermistor, I'm given the part number for every other thermistor on my refrigerator. No one knows a part called an "evaporator thermistor". I was told it may be called a "defrost thermostat". Does this sound right?
1 Answer Hello Leslie, You will need to order thermistor 67001995 for the model provided. Read More...
