What causes the i30 error & what does it mean?
The i30 error code typically indicates that the dishwasher has detected a water leak or overflow in the bottom pan of the unit. This pan sits underneath the tub and sump area to catch any water that may drain out of the system as it’s working.
When the water level gets too high in this pan, it triggers a float switch that alerts the control board. The dishwasher then displays the i30 code and stops the cycle.
Here are a few reasons why water may accumulate in the bottom pan and trigger the i30 fault code:
- A water tank overflow, which can cause water to leak into areas where it shouldn’t be
- A defective drain pump
- Any other faulty seal
- A defective main control board
- A bad wire harness

Safety precautions
When working on any appliance, remember to keep safety first. Here are some tips to keep in mind:
- Always power off and unplug your appliance or switch off the circuit breaker before you attempt any maintenance or replacement work. This keeps you safe by preventing any risk of electric shock.
- If the appliance has recently been used, give it plenty of time to cool down before working on it.
- Turn off the water supply at the outlet before beginning repairs. Keep towels ready to catch any residual water in the system when removing parts.
- Take your time while working to prevent accidents and personal injuries. Rushing is the enemy of precision.
- Work in a well-lit area so you can see and access appliance parts.
- Keep your workspace free of clutter and other obstacles. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
- Never work on internal parts with wet hands. Make sure the work area is completely dry.
- Check the user manual to see if there are specific installation or safety instructions related to your appliance or replacement part.
- Be gentle when handling or removing parts. Excessive force might damage the appliance or cause personal injury.
- Wear insulated work gloves to protect your hands from sharp metal parts and debris.
- When working with wires, avoid touching any exposed wires or terminals. If you need to touch a wire, use a non-conductive tool or wear insulating gloves to prevent electrical shock.
- Always take photos or make a note of wiring terminals or other connections before disconnecting them to make reassembly easier.
- Don’t test live voltage with a multimeter if you’re unfamiliar with how to prevent short-circuiting.
- Consider wearing safety glasses and/or a dust mask when working with chemicals, dust or a large amount of debris to prevent irritation or injury.
How to troubleshoot the i30 error code
Follow these steps to resolve the i30 error on your Electrolux dishwasher:
- Unplug the dishwasher from the power source or turn it off at the breaker. Wait for at least 10 minutes before reconnecting.
- Plug the appliance back into the power source and turn it on. See if the i30 error code is still displayed. If the error code is no longer displayed, then power cycling resolved the issue. If the i30 error code is still visible, continue troubleshooting.
- Lean the dishwasher back to determine if there’s any water in the bottom tra. If you don’t see any water, it suggests there’s an issue with the main control board. If there’s water in the bottom tray, continue troubleshooting.
- Tilt the unit back so that its rear portion rests on the floor. This will give you better access to the drain pump and sump area.
- Find the adjustment screw in the bottom tray of the unit. Use a screwdriver to remove the adjustment screw from the snap that holds it in place.
- Find the three snaps that hold the bottom tray to the unit. These snaps are located along the edges of the tray. Use a pair of pliers to carefully release each snap by gently squeezing and pulling them away from the tray.
- Lift out the bottom tray from the unit and set it aside.
- Look over the drain hose, drain pump, and circulation pump for any indications of leaking. If you find any damage, replace the affected part(s).
- If all the above steps have been performed and the issue persists, check for water overflowing from the water tank. Look for any blockages in the water tank and clear them if present.
- If no parts appear to be causing a leak, check the wire harnesses. Look for any signs of damage, loose connections, or frayed wires. If any issues are found, replace the wiring harness.
- After completing the necessary repairs, reattach all panels and covers to the appliance.
- Reconnect the dishwasher to the power source. Monitor it closely for the first few cycles to make sure the error code no longer displays.
