How to replace power cord 3903-000400 on a Samsung refrigerator

Replacement steps

Step 1 – Remove the access panel

  1. Turn off the fridge and disconnect it from the power source.
  2. Pull the fridge out so you can access the back.
  3. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws holding on the back access panel.
  4. Lift off the panel and set it to the side.

Step 2 – Disconnect the old power cord

On the right side of the refrigerator, you’ll see the power cord go up behind the water valve.

  1. Remove the screw that holds the power cord to the cabinet.
  2. Remove the screw for the ground wire (solid green).
  3. Remove the screw that holds the bracket that holds the water lines.
  4. Remove the screw that holds the water valve to the cabinet.
  5. Lift up the water valve and pull it out a little so you can get behind it.
  6. Reach up and disconnect the wire harness behind the valve, press on the locking tab, and pull down to release the harness.
  7. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw holding the power box.
  8. Pull out the power box. Be careful while moving around the valve while pulling the power box out.
  9. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screw that holds the cover.
  10. Use the flathead screwdriver to release the locking tab holding on the cover.
  11. Press the locking tab on the power cord harness to release it.
  12. Set the power box aside.
  13. Reach in and pull the old power cord out.

Step 3 – Install the new replacement cord

Once the old cord is removed, it’s time to install the new OEM replacement cord.

  1. Attach the new power cord to the harness.
  2. Push the connector down into the box and replace the cover. Make sure the upper wires are going into the slots.
  3. Screw the cover back on.
  4. Push the new cord in and work it around the water valve, then push the case back in. As you slide it back in, make sure the locking tab goes into the opening on the side wall.
  5. Put the screw in to secure the power box to the frame.
  6. Reach in and reconnect the harness.
  7. Route the power cord through.
  8. Lift up slightly on the water valve and push the power cord under the water lines so it’s lined up with the clip.
  9. Clip the power cord in.
  10. Reach in and grab the ground wire, then pull that out and route it under the water lines.
  11. Route the ground wire through the clip with the power cord, then screw the wire to the cabinet.
  12. Route the power cord back around the valve.
  13. Use the Phillips screwdriver to screw the power cord to the cabinet.
  14. Reinstall the water valve.
  15. Remount the bracket for the water lines.
  16. Reinstall the rear access panel by inserting the tabs into the slots and reinstalling the access panel screw.

Step 4 – Restore Power and Test

  1. Check that all connections are secure.
  2. Plug the power cord into the outlet.
  3. Turn on the circuit breaker.
  4. Give the fridge 15 minutes to start cooling. Check that the interior is progressively getting colder until it reaches the set temperature.
