  • Wear insulated work gloves to protect your hands from sharp metal parts, pinching hazards and debris.
  • Take your time and don’t rush while working to prevent accidents and personal injuries.
  • Work in a well-lit area so you can clearly see and access the interior parts.

  • Never work on internal parts with bare wet hands. Make sure the work area is completely dry.

  • Take pictures or make a note of wiring terminals or other connections before disconnecting to prevent any problems with reassembly.
  • When working with wires, avoid touching any exposed wires or terminals. If you need to touch a wire, use a non-conductive tool or wear insulating gloves to prevent electrical shock.

Disassembly and Removal Steps

  1. Open the dryer door fully.
  2. Locate the two hinge screws along the door frame.
  3. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws.
  4. Carefully lift up on the door to disconnect the hinges from their slots on the front panel.
  5. Set the detached door safely aside.
  6. Locate two plastic release tabs on either side of the door opening.
  7. Pull these tabs straight out to disengage the locking mechanism.
  8. Once the clips are released, detach the front panel.
  9. Tilt the bottom edge out slightly while lifting up to clear the mounting tabs along the top edge.
  10. Set this panel aside
  11. Locate the two metal retaining bracket screws along the back of the top panel.
  12. Using your 5/16-inch nut driver, remove these screws completely and set them in a safe place.
  13. Lift up on each bracket tab and swing them out toward the sides of the cabinet and pull down to detach.
  14. You can now lift the steel top panel up, put a towel over it, and prop it against the wall.
  15. Use a 5/16-inch nut driver to remove the outer shroud screws located halfway down each side.
  16. Do not remove the screws inside the angled cut-outs, as they aid in handling the shroud.
  17. Grasp the shroud firmly with both hands and tilt the top edge out to prevent sudden dropping.
  18. Rotate the shroud all the way down until it rests on the dryer door frame.
  19. Now you have open access to the seal area behind it.

Installation and Reassembly Steps

  1. Locate the foam gasket seal adhered around the opening in the shroud.
  2. Carefully pry and peel the old seal completely off the shroud.
  3. Scrape away any remaining sticky residue.
  4. Position the new replacement seal evenly around the shroud opening, avoiding twisting or over-stretching.
  5. Make sure it fits smoothly and flat.
  6. Press firmly around the edges to securely adhere the fresh seal into place on the cleaned shroud.
  7. Lift and rotate the shroud back up into place against the rear cabinet wall, keeping wires clear.
  8. Insert and tighten the two outer shroud screws you removed earlier.
  9. Replace the top panel, retracting the support brackets at the rear before lowering it down.
  10. Reattach the front panel by setting the bottom edge into the frame first, then lift it to click the locking tabs into their slots.
  11. Replace both retaining bracket screws at the top panel.
  12. Lastly, realign the door hinges in their slots and secure with the door screws.
  13. Restore power to the dryer and run it empty on high heat for 20-30 minutes. Listen and feel around the drum and cabinet for any air leaks. The new shroud seal should keep air flowing properly through the blower housing.
