Safety tips
When working on any appliance, always keep safety first to avoid personal injury or damage to the appliance or its parts. Here are some tips to keep in mind:
- Always power off and unplug your appliance or switch off the circuit breaker before you attempt any maintenance or replacement work. This keeps you safe by eliminating any risk of electric shock.
- If the appliance has recently been used, give it plenty of time to cool down before working on it.
- Take your time while working to prevent accidents and personal injuries. Rushing is the enemy of precision.
- Work in a well-lit area so you can see and access appliance parts.
- Keep your workspace free of clutter and other obstacles. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
- Never work on internal parts with wet hands. Make sure the work area is completely dry.
- Check the user manual to see if there are specific installation or safety instructions related to your appliance or replacement part.
- Be gentle when handling or removing parts. Excessive force might damage the appliance or cause personal injury.
- Wear insulated work gloves to protect your hands from sharp metal parts and debris.
- When working with wires, avoid touching any exposed wires or terminals. If you need to touch a wire, use a non-conductive tool or wear insulating gloves to prevent electrical shock.
- Always take photos or make a note of wiring terminals or other connections before disconnecting them to make reassembly easier.
- Consider wearing safety glasses and/or a dust mask when working with chemicals, dust or a large amount of debris to prevent irritation or injury.

How to test and replace the LED light module
Step 1: Remove the LED module
- Unplug the refrigerator to ensure safety.
- Open the door or doors in the section where the LED light module is located.
- Remove any shelves or food items blocking access to the LED module.
- Use a putty knife to carefully slide the blade under the lip of the LED module.
- Pry the module up a little at a time, working on each side until the module is free.
- Avoid pulling on the wires as you remove the module to prevent them from coming loose or retreating into the foam insulation.
Step 2: Test the LED module
- To test the LED module, place a jumper wire in the connector or twist the wires together if they have come out.
- Plug the refrigerator back in and check if the other lights that were dim or flickering are now working correctly.
- If multiple lights are affected, repeat the testing process for each LED to determine which module needs to be replaced.
- Once you identify the faulty LED module, unplug the refrigerator again.
Step 3: Replace the module
- Remove the module and carefully disconnect the wires. If the wires come out of the connector, secure them with tape to prevent them from slipping into the insulation.
- Prepare the new LED module for installation. If the wires from the old module have come out or seem too short, snip the connector off the new module as close as possible using wire cutters.
- Refer to the refrigerator’s wiring diagram or tech sheet to ensure proper polarity for the new LED module. Red is typically for the incoming wire, and Black is for the outgoing wire.
- Cut one of the wires from the old module as close to the module as possible.
- Insert the correct wire from the unit and the corresponding wire from the new module into the connector holes.
- Use pliers to push down the connector blade and secure the connection, then close the flap on the connector.
- Repeat the process with the remaining wires.
Step 4: Testing and Final Installation
- Once all connections are made, plug the refrigerator back in and test the LED lights.
- If the lights do not work, switch the wire connections to ensure proper polarity.
- Once the LEDs are functioning correctly, carefully feed the wire harness back into the opening.
- Firmly press the new LED module into place until it is flush with the surface.
- Replace any removed shelves or food items, and close the door. The LED replacement is now complete!
