What the error code means

When the E27 error code appears, it signifies that the oven’s internal temperature monitoring system is failing to accurately detect and regulate the heat levels. This can result in inaccurate temperature readings, potentially causing food to be overcooked or undercooked.

The primary cause of the E27 error is typically a faulty or electrically open oven temperature sensor. This could be due to physical damage, loose wiring connections, or issues with the oven’s electronic control board.

Safety precautions

When working on any appliance, remember to keep safety first. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  • Always power off and unplug your appliance or switch off the circuit breaker before attempting any maintenance or replacement work. This keeps you safe by preventing any risk of injury from electric shock.
  • Wear insulated work gloves to protect your hands from sharp metal parts, pinching hazards and debris.
  • Take your time and don’t rush while working to prevent accidents and personal injuries.
  • Work in a well-lit area so you can clearly see and access the interior parts.
  • Check your user manual to see if there are specific installation or safety instructions for your part or appliance.
  • Be gentle when handling or removing parts. Excessive force might damage the appliance or cause injury.
  • Wear safety glasses when working with chemicals, dust or cleaning large debris to prevent injury.
  • If the appliance has recently been used, give it plenty of time for any heating parts to cool down before working on it.
  • Take pictures or make a note of wiring terminals or other connections before disconnecting to prevent any problems with reassembly.
  • When working with wires, avoid touching any exposed wires or terminals. If you need to touch a wire, use a non-conductive tool or wear insulating gloves to prevent electrical shock.

Troubleshooting steps

Check the oven sensor

  1. Turn off and unplug the oven for safety.
  2. Locate the temperature sensor inside the oven cavity, near the back.
  3. Carefully remove the sensor by unscrewing or detaching it from the mounting.
  4. Use a multimeter to test the sensor’s resistance, looking for around 1080 ohms at room temperature.
  5. If the resistance is significantly off, replace the oven temperature sensor.
  6. Inspect all wiring and connections to the sensor, ensuring they are secure and free of damage.
  7. Replace any damaged wiring or connectors as needed.

Reset the control board

  1. Turn off and unplug the oven.
  2. Remove the control board and press/hold the “Bake” button for 5 seconds.
  3. Release the button when “SF” appears on the display.
  4. Use the arrow keys to select Celsius or Fahrenheit.
  5. Press “Start” to save the selection and exit programming mode.
  6. Reinstall the control board and restore power to the oven.

Check the control board

  1. Turn off and unplug the oven.
  2. Access the inverter control board and electronic control board.
  3. Inspect the boards for visible damage or burnt components.
  4. Check that all wiring connections between the boards, sensor, and other components are secure.
  5. Test continuity in the wire harnesses using a multimeter.
  6. Replace any defective components or repair damaged wiring.
