Safety first
When working on any appliance, always keep safety first to avoid personal injury or damage to the appliance or parts. Here are some safety tips to keep in mind:
- Unplug the refrigerator or turn off the circuit breaker to eliminate any risk of electric shock.
- Make sure the freezer is empty or mostly clear for easy access.
- Take your time while working to prevent accidents and personal injuries. Rushing is the enemy of precision.
- Work in a well-lit area so you can clearly see and access appliance parts.
- Keep your workspace free of clutter and other obstacles. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
- Be gentle when handling or removing parts. Excessive force might damage the appliance or cause personal injury.

Replacement Steps
Step 1: Open the Freezer and Remove the Interior Parts
- Open the freezer door all the way so you have full access to the lower section.
- Remove the glass insert (if your model has one).
- Reach in, lift it straight up, and carefully pull it out.
- Next, remove the freezer basket.
- Pull it straight out until it stops.
- Lift the front slightly and pull it the rest of the way out.
Step 2: Remove the Old Basket Rail
- Locate the basket rail—it’s mounted on the side wall of the freezer, usually near the bottom (in this case, the left-hand side).
- Use your 1/4-inch nut driver to remove the screw at the front of the rail.
- Once the screw is out, grab the rail and pull it forward. The back end should slide right out along with the rear mounting pin.
- Set the old rail aside.
Step 3: Install the New Basket Rail
- Take your new freezer basket rail and line up the rear pin with the mounting hole at the back of the freezer wall.
- Once it’s in position, push the front end into place.
- Secure it using your 1/4-inch nut driver and the screw you removed earlier.
- Make sure the rail is seated firmly and slides smoothly if it’s a sliding-style rail.
Step 4: Reinstall the Basket and Glass
- Slide the freezer basket back into the rail.
- Line up both sides and push it back evenly until it seats fully in place.
- Reinstall the glass shelf.
- Lay it flat and slide it back under the plastic tabs until it rests securely.
Step 5: Finish Up
- Close the freezer door.
- Plug the refrigerator back in or flip the circuit breaker back on.
- Give the basket a quick test, slide it in and out to make sure everything’s working smoothly.
