Tools needed

  • Large pliers
  • 1/4″ nut driver
  • Pipe joint sealant

Safety precautions

  • Always power off and unplug your appliance or switch off the circuit breaker before attempting any maintenance or replacement work. This keeps you safe by preventing any risk of injury from electric shock.
  • Turn off the water supply at the outlet before beginning repairs to any appliance parts that hold water. Have towels ready for any residual water in the system when removing parts.
  • Wear insulated work gloves to protect your hands from sharp metal parts, pinching hazards and debris.
  • Don’t test wiring with a multimeter for live voltage if you’re unfamiliar with how to prevent short circuiting when testing.
  • When working with wires, avoid touching any exposed wires or terminals. If you need to touch a wire, use a non-conductive tool or wear insulating gloves to prevent electrical shock.
  • Take your time and don’t rush while working to prevent accidents and personal injuries.
  • Work in a well-lit area so you can clearly see and access the interior parts.
  • Clear your workspace of clutter and other obstacles. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
  • Never work on internal parts with bare wet hands. Make sure the work area is completely dry.
  • Check your user manual to see if there are specific installation or safety instructions for your part or appliance.
  • Be gentle when handling or removing parts. Excessive force might damage the appliance or cause injury.
  • Wear safety glasses when working with chemicals, dust or cleaning large debris to prevent injury.
  • If the appliance has recently been used, give it plenty of time for any heating parts to cool down before working on it.

Replacement steps

Disassembly

  1. Locate the pressure regulator at the back of the range, in the lower left corner, mounted on a bracket.
  2. Identify the fitting where your gas supply line attaches to the regulator. Use large pliers to unscrew it counterclockwise and remove it. Set it aside.
  3. Locate the two gas lines connected to the regulator and use a 9/16 inch wrench to loosen and disconnect them.
  4. Use a quarter-inch nut driver to remove the screws holding the bracket to the frame of the range.
  5. Lift the pressure regulator out and remove the screws that hold the bracket to the regulator. Set the bracket aside.
  6. Pull the gas pressure regulator off the range.

Installation

  1. Take the new gas pressure regulator and make sure that the handle is in the up position for gas flow.
  2. Turn the regulator over and attach the bracket onto it.
  3. The holes on the bracket may not be threaded from the manufacturer. To cut the threads, run the screws in and out of the holes, making it easier to attach the bracket. Use the smaller machine thread screws that held the bracket.
  4. Line up the bracket with the regulator and secure it with the quarter-inch nut driver.
  5. Align the bracket with the range and secure it to the range with screws.
  6. Reattach the gas lines by starting them by hand to get the threads started.
  7. Use a 9/16 inch wrench to tighten the gas lines securely.
  8. Apply some pipe joint sealant on the supply fitting where the gas line hooks up to ensure a good seal.
  9. Screw the supply fitting into the gas valve by hand until it’s hand tight.
  10. Use a wrench or pliers to fully tighten the supply fitting. After tightening, reattach your gas line.
  11. Turn the gas back on to check for any gas leaks. Use a gas leak detector or soapy water to check for any bubbles indicating a leak.
  12. Plug in the power cord. Test the range to check for any problems.
