Check part compatibility
Before you replace the water line holder, make sure you have an OEM part that’s compatible with your specific appliance model. To do this, you will need to locate the appliance model number.
Look for the appliance model number on your appliance. It will say MOD or Model before it and is typically found on a sticker or a metal plate in one of the following locations:
- Inside the refrigerator, either on the side wall or the ceiling.
- On the back of the refrigerator, near the bottom.
- On the side or bottom of the refrigerator door.
Once you have located the model number, write it down or take a clear photo for reference.
Enter your model number at AppliancePartsPros.com to see if the new water line holder is compatible with your model.

Safety precautions
When working on any appliance, remember to keep safety first. Here are some tips to keep in mind:
- Always power off and unplug your appliance or switch off the circuit breaker before attempting any maintenance or replacement work. This keeps you safe by preventing any risk of injury from electric shock.
- Turn off the water supply at the outlet before beginning repairs to any appliance parts that hold water. Have towels ready for any residual water in the system when removing parts.
- Wear insulated work gloves to protect your hands from sharp metal parts, pinching hazards and debris.
- When working with wires, avoid touching any exposed wires or terminals. If you need to touch a wire, use a non-conductive tool or wear insulating gloves to prevent electrical shock.
- Take your time and don’t rush while working to prevent accidents and personal injuries.
- Work in a well-lit area so you can clearly see and access the interior parts.
- Clear your workspace of clutter and other obstacles. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
- Never work on internal parts with wet hands. Make sure the work area is completely dry.
- Check your user manual to see if there are specific installation or safety instructions for your part or appliance.
- Be gentle when handling or removing parts. Excessive force might damage the appliance or cause injury.
- Wear safety glasses when working with chemicals, dust or cleaning large debris to prevent injury.
- If the appliance has recently been used, give it plenty of time for any heating parts to cool down before working on it.

Replacement steps
- Turn off the fridge and unplug it or switch off the circuit breaker.
- Make sure the water supply is turned off.
- Move the refrigerator out to access the water line holder.
- Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws keeping the water line holder in place. Once the screws are removed, you can pull the water line holder off the fridge.
- The new water line holder may have a locking clip, or you can use zip ties to prevent it from coming out when you feed the water line through it. Tighten the zip ties and cut off the excess ends using scissors or wire cutters.
- Remove the water line by pushing down on the locking collar of the tube connector and slide the holder onto it.
- Slowly and carefully feed the fitting of the new holder onto the water line so it’s aligned.
- Use a Phillips screwdriver to hold the first screw in place and secure the holder.
- Use a drill with a small 1/16-inch drill bit to drill a hole for the second screw. Drill only through the metal, without going too deep.
- Use the Phillips screwdriver to insert the second screw into the drilled hole and tighten it.
- Reconnect the water line by pushing it carefully into the fitting until it bottoms out and seats correctly.
- Plug in the refrigerator, turn on the water supply, and check for any leaks.
