What you’ll need

  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Tape

Safety precautions

  • Always power off and unplug your appliance or switch off the circuit breaker before attempting any maintenance or replacement work. This keeps you safe by preventing any risk of injury from electric shock.
  • Don’t test wiring with a multimeter for live voltage if you’re unfamiliar with how to prevent short circuiting when testing.
  • When working with wires, avoid touching any exposed wires or terminals. If you need to touch a wire, use a non-conductive tool or wear insulating gloves to prevent electrical shock.
  • Take your time and don’t rush while working to prevent accidents and personal injuries.
  • Work in a well-lit area so you can clearly see and access the interior parts.
  • Clear your workspace of clutter and other obstacles. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
  • Never work on internal parts with bare wet hands. Make sure the work area is completely dry.
  • Check your user manual to see if there are specific installation or safety instructions for your part or appliance.
  • Be gentle when handling or removing parts. Excessive force might damage the appliance or cause injury.
  • Wear insulated work gloves to protect your hands from sharp metal parts, pinching hazards and debris.
  • Wear safety glasses when working with chemicals, dust or cleaning large debris to prevent injury.

Replacement steps

Removal

  1. Open the lower oven door.
  2. Use a flat blade screwdriver to flip up the stoppers on each hinge.
  3. Grab the door by the sides and slowly raise it until it comes off the cabinet.
  4. Set the door aside in a safe place.
  5. Loosen up the two screws at the bottom of the microwave door.
  6. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove four screws along the grille and then remove the vent grille.
  7. Using the Philips screwdriver, loosen up both door panel retainer screws on either side of the door.
  8. Open the door and hold the handle firmly.
  9. Unscrew two Phillips screws on the top of the inner door frame.
  10. Slide the outer door glass off. Be careful not to let go of the inner door as it is spring-loaded and will shut quickly. Slowly close the door.
  11. Using the Phillips screwdriver, remove two screws (one on each side) of the control panel.
  12. Pull the panel off.
  13. Disconnect the small white plug on the control board and lift it up to provide access to the upper vent grille.

  16. Pull the microwave out of the mounting frame a few inches.

  3. Secure the frame on the bottom with two Phillips screws.
  4. Tape the door frame and the inner door together to prevent the door frame from breaking.
  5. Push the microwave in and secure it with the two Phillips screws at the bottom.
  6. Open the door and install the top vent grille. Secure it with three Phillips screws.
  7. Bring the control panel down and reconnect the white plug at the control board.
  8. Slide the control panel on and secure it with the two Phillips screws on the sides.
  9. Slide the outer door glass on with the bottom in the retainers.
  10. Secure the top with two Phillips screws.
  11. Tighten both retainer screws.
  12. Remove the tape from the door.
  13. Install the bottom vent grille and secure it with the four Phillips screws.
