Safety precautions
- Always power off and unplug your appliance or switch off the circuit breaker before attempting any maintenance or replacement work. This keeps you safe by preventing any risk of injury from electric shock.
- Turn off the water supply at the outlet before beginning repairs to any appliance parts that hold water. Have towels ready for any residual water in the system when removing parts.
- Wear insulated work gloves to protect your hands from sharp metal parts, pinching hazards and debris.
- Take your time and don’t rush while working to prevent accidents and personal injuries.
- Work in a well-lit area so you can clearly see and access the interior parts.
- Clear your workspace of clutter and other obstacles. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
- Never work on internal parts with bare wet hands. Make sure the work area is completely dry.
- Check your user manual to see if there are specific installation or safety instructions for your part or appliance.
- Be gentle when handling or removing parts. Excessive force might damage the appliance or cause injury.
- Wear safety glasses when working with chemicals, dust or cleaning large debris to prevent injury.
- If the appliance has recently been used, give it plenty of time for any heating parts to cool down before working on it.
Replacement steps
Step 1
- Using the Phillips screwdriver, unscrew and remove the two lower screws from the rear brackets.
- Slide the top panel of the washer back to disengage it from the front clips.
- Lift and remove the top panel from the washer.
Step 2
- Use the seven-millimeter socket wrench to loosen the hose clamp securing the vent hose to the tub.
- Once the clamp is loose, pull the vent hose off the tub to expose the float assembly.
- Take two small flat blade screwdrivers and insert them into the vent opening on either side of the float assembly.
- Apply gentle pressure with the screwdrivers to pull the float assembly out of the vent opening.
Step 3
- Slide the new float assembly into the vent opening until it is fully inserted into the center.
- Take the vent hose that was previously removed and reattach it to the tub.
- Position the vent hose over the tub opening and slide it on until it is snug.
- Use the seven-millimeter socket wrench to tighten the hose clamp, securing the vent hose firmly in place.
Step 4
- Take the top panel and position it on the cabinet, leaving about an inch and a half of space between the front of the panel and the front of the washer.
- Slide the top panel forward, aligning the tabs on the panel with the corresponding slots on the cabinet.
- Continue sliding the top panel forward until the tabs lock into place.
- Once the panel is securely in place, locate the two Phillips screws at the back of the washer.
- Use the Phillips screwdriver to screw the two Phillips screws into the rear brackets, securing the top panel.
Step 5
- Plug the washer back into the power source.
- Turn the water supply back on.
- Run a short cycle on the washer to check for any leaks or other problems.
