How to replace the suspension spring on an LG washer

Tools needed
- Phillips screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
- Rope
Safety precautions

Replacement steps
Removal
- Locate the two lower bracket screws on the top panel and use the phillips screwdriver to remove them.
- Pull the top panel back about an inch to disengage it from the washer, and then lift it off completely.
- Find the steam generator and slide it towards the rear of the washer.
- Use the phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws securing the mounting bar of the steam generator.
- Push back the mounting bar and move the steam generator out of the way.
- Locate the spring safety clip and use the flat blade screwdriver to pry it out.
- Place the rope under the hook of the suspension spring.
- With both hands, lift the spring up and out of the cabinet mounting hole.
- Slowly lower the spring down and remove it from the outer tub mounting hole.
- Repeat the steps to remove the other spring, if necessary.
Installation
- Take the new suspension spring and hook one end through the mounting hole in the outer tub. Make sure that the upper hook is facing the cabinet.
- Place the rope on the spring and lift the tub up slightly.
- Hook the spring under the cabinet through the mounting hole.
- Pull out the rope and attach the spring securely in place.
- Lock the spring safety clip back into position.
- Repeat these steps to install the opposite spring, if necessary.
- Slide the steam generator mounting tabs into the corresponding cutouts in the cabinet.
- Install the mounting bar so that the steam generator tab locks onto the mounting bar.
- Align the four mounting holes and secure the bar with the screws.
- Push the steam generator forward to lock it in place and then secure it with the two phillips screws.
- Place the top panel back onto the washer and slide it forward until it locks into place.
- Secure the top panel with the two phillips screws.
- Turn on the water supply to the washer. Plug the washer back into the electrical outlet.
- Test the washer to check for any problems.
