Your Bosch dishwasher’s power cord is responsible for delivering electricity from your home’s outlet to the dishwasher’s internal control board. Over time, this cord may become damaged from normal wear and tear or a power surge. If your dishwasher won’t turn on at all and the control panel remains dark, the power cord may be the culprit.

Keep safety first
- Always power off and unplug your appliance or switch off the circuit breaker before attempting any maintenance or replacement work. This keeps you safe by preventing any risk of electric shock.
- If the appliance has recently been used, give it plenty of time to cool down before working on it.
- Take your time and don’t rush while working to prevent accidents and personal injuries.
- Work in a well-lit area so you can clearly see and access appliance parts.
- Keep your workspace free of clutter and other obstacles. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
- Never work on internal parts with wet hands. Make sure the work area is completely dry.
- Check the user manual to see if there are specific installation or safety instructions related to your appliance or replacement part.
- Be gentle when handling or removing parts. Excessive force might damage the appliance or cause personal injury.
- Wear insulated work gloves to protect your hands from sharp metal parts and debris.
- Consider wearing safety glasses and/or a dust mask when working with chemicals, dust or a large amount of debris to prevent irritation or injury.
Replacement steps
Step 1 – Remove the old cord
- Remove the four screws on the access panel using a Philips screwdriver.
- Lift off the cover to expose the interior control board and wiring.
- Locate the connector block. This is where the existing power cable connects to the dishwasher’s control board.
- Disconnect the old cable by simply pulling it free from the connector block.
- Insert a strain relief into the open junction box port and use pliers to firmly tighten it in place. This will protect the new cable.
Step 2 – Install the junction box
- Choose a suitable location under the sink away from the dishwasher. This junction box can’t be placed behind the appliance.
- Feed the new cable through the hole in the divider wall. Pull it through toward the planned junction box location.
- Cut the existing old cable so that it’s long enough to reach the junction box. Leave a bit extra to insert it through the strain relief.
- Use wire strippers to strip the insulation from the wire ends of the old and new cables.
- Connect matching wires: black to black, white to white, ground to ground. Use a Philips screwdriver to tighten the junction box terminals.
- Once all connections are secure, attach the junction box to the undersink wall with the appropriate fasteners.

Step 3 – Connect the new cord
- Feed the new cable through the retaining strap on the dishwasher’s base. This holds it in place.
- Slide the cable clip over the new cable. Position it to where it secures the cable.
- Plug the new cable into the connector block and push it firmly until it’s fully seated.
- Install the safety clip on the connector block. This prevents accidental disconnects.
- Use mounting screws and brackets to secure the dishwasher under the countertop.
Step 4 – Test the dishwasher
- Reconnect the water and drain lines to the dishwasher.
- Restore electrical power at the circuit breaker.
- Test run the dishwasher to make sure your Bosch dishwasher is running normally.
