- 1/2” open-ended wrench
- Flat blade screwdriver

Safety precautions
- Always power off and unplug your appliance or switch off the circuit breaker before attempting any maintenance or replacement work. This keeps you safe by preventing any risk of injury from electric shock.
- Don’t test wiring with a multimeter for live voltage if you’re unfamiliar with how to prevent short circuiting when testing.
- When working with wires, avoid touching any exposed wires or terminals. If you need to touch a wire, use a non-conductive tool or wear insulating gloves to prevent electrical shock.
- Take your time and don’t rush while working to prevent accidents and personal injuries.
- Work in a well-lit area so you can clearly see and access the interior parts.
- Clear your workspace of clutter and other obstacles. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
- Never work on internal parts with bare wet hands. Make sure the work area is completely dry.
- Check your user manual to see if there are specific installation or safety instructions for your part or appliance.
- Be gentle when handling or removing parts. Excessive force might damage the appliance or cause injury.
- Wear insulated work gloves to protect your hands from sharp metal parts, pinching hazards and debris.
- Wear safety glasses when working with chemicals, dust or cleaning large debris to prevent injury.
Replacement steps
- Before starting the repair, turn off the power and water to the refrigerator.
- Begin by disconnecting the water inlet line from the water inlet valve. Use the half-inch open-ended wrench to break loose the nut and remove it by hand. Place a small towel on the floor to catch any remaining water that may come out of the lines.
- Remove the quarter-inch screw that secures the tube at the top.
- Use the half-inch wrench to push on the locking collar and release the tube, then pull it out.
- Use a flat-blade screwdriver to push on the side and release the white bracket. Slide the clip of the water line connector and pull both water lines out of the line track.
- Remove the tubes from the clip and gently remove the fill tube installation block.
- Straighten out any curves in the water tubes if necessary.
- Go to the front of the fridge and open the fresh food doors.
- Locate the water filter in the top right corner and push on the tap to open the filter cover.
- Twist the filter counterclockwise to remove it.
- Slightly push on the side of the filter tower and remove it from the pins.
- Carefully push on the locking tab and release the left side pin, then slide the right side pin out and remove the water filter head.
- Slowly pull out both water tubes.
- Remove the retainer clip from the tube.
- A bypass cap is included in the new assembly that allows the dispenser and icemaker to fill with unfiltered water. If you are planning to use a water filter, unscrew the bypass cap and store it for future use.
- Thread both water tubes through the opening in the back of the fridge.
- Insert the pin on the right into the opening in the bracket and push the left-side pin in until it’s locked inside the clip.
- Put the right side of the filter cover over the pin, bend slightly the left side, and put it over the left pin.
- To install the water filter, push it in and rotate it clockwise all the way. Close the filter cover.
- Close the doors and go to the back of the fridge.
- Install the fill tube installation block.
- Insert both tubes into the clip and put both tubes into the water line track.
- Slide on the water line clip that was removed from the old water line.
- Remove the red safety cap from the end of the water line with the connector.
- Slide the end of the water line with the connector into the water valve bracket.
- Slide on the water line bracket and push it in to lock it into the panel.
- Connect the water filter line by pushing it into the opening.
- Secure the water line clip with a quarter-inch screw.
- Connect the water inlet line and screw on the nut. Tighten it with a half-inch wrench.
- Turn on the water and plug the fridge back in.
Congratulations! You have successfully completed the repair.
