Utilizing online diagnostic assistance, I was able to isolate the problem to one of four causes: water filter, water filter housing, low water pressure, and the water inlet valve. I checked and ruled out the water filter by replacing it. Then, I ruled out water pressure by checking the supply line pressure. I used a youtube video to learn how to test the water intake valve and ruled it out. This left the water filter head and tube assembly (housing). Replacing the filter housing was very easy. I followed the guidance provided on AppliancePartsPros.com to properly replace the water filter housing. It took about 20 minutes and my refrigerator was back up and running.

Replacing the filter did not fix the problem so had to replace the the filter head assembly. This is an easy repair, at least it is on my Maytag. Use care when twisting the filter cover off so you don't snap the plastic pin and you are good to go.

Identified potential parts needed. Found info on this site on how to remove/replace these parts. Ordered needed parts on Friday mid-morning. Received parts on Saturday late afternoon without expensive overnight shipping. Replaced parts, and water dispenser worked properly. Total time water dispenser was inoperable was less than two days.

I noticed every time we replaced a filter the water was slower coming out. It started squealing and I decided to try the filter bypass before suspecting anything else in the system. After putting the filter bypass in the flow increased 10 times. Ordered the head and tank assembly on Sunday and received the shipment on Tuesday. This particular model has the elevator frame assembly for a shelf so it was a pain to R&R the tank/head assembly but, with a lot of cranking it up and down we got'r done. VERY POOR DESIGN: The manufacturer should never have designed the head assembly push pins, that engage the valve, with plastic tips that come to a point! They wear every time a filter is replaced so the head assembly is only good for about 6 filters!!! Looks to me like they could have used better material like metal or, even better, a ball bearing (similar to ones found in a writing pen) to roll on the filter's ramp... my 2 cents.
