The Temperature Sensor is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. Also known as a thermistor, is responsible for sensing the temperature changes and providing the necessary feedback to the refrigerator's control board. It helps maintain accurate and consistent temperature levels, ensuring optimal food preservation and efficient cooling.

Causes of a faulty temperature sensor can include wear and tear over time, damage due to electrical issues or exposure to extreme temperatures, or sensor calibration issues. These factors can result in temperature inconsistencies, inaccurate readings, or improper cooling performance of the refrigerator.

Symptoms of a bad temperature sensor may include:

  • Incorrect temperature readings on the control panel
  • Temperature fluctuations inside the refrigerator
  • Overcooling or inadequate cooling of food items

This OEM LG part can also be used on Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Marie for Model Number 79573133410

Hi, My refrigerator is working fine but the freezer is not freezing. I performed the 3 stage tests from the board in the back. It seems like the compressor, the fan, and the air flow are all working OK. There are no error messages. There are no blinking lights on the board. The temperature in the freezer does go down to 28, but not lower. I checked the door seal and that is fine. I have reset the unit. I just can't seem to figure out what is wrong. Can you point me in the right direction?

Answer

Marie, the freezer evaporator would need to be inspected for excessive frost. If the evaporator is not blocked up with ice, there is likely a sealed system failure and it would require an EPA-certified tech to diagnose and repair the specific failure.
