This bi-metal is the thermal actuator that releases the detergent dispenser at the proper point in the wash cycle. Replacing a weak or failed actuator restores reliable detergent cup opening and consistent detergent delivery for better cleaning. What it does:
- Heats and flexes when energized by the control to trip the dispenser latch
- If failed, the detergent cup may not open or may open inconsistently
- Can leave detergent in the cup and lead to poor cleaning results
- Often suspected when the cycle runs but the soap door stays closed
What's included:
- 1 bi-metal actuator assembly
Install notes:
- Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing
- Remove the inner door panel to access the dispenser area
- Note wiring positions and orientation; transfer connectors securely to the new actuator
- The dispenser latch/linkage moves freely and test door release before reassembly
This part fixes the following symptoms
-
Will not dispense detergent
