There were two problems. One was an obstruction with the impeller. That was cleared by removing a piece of glass which had gotten wedged under the impeller. Second was the check valve. Ordered a new check valve and replaced the old with the new. The twenty year old BOSCH dishwasher is now continuing to deliver good service. The new check valve arrived two days early and fit perfectly.
