I called the appliance parts pros described my problem and the recommended a new mode shifter. I followed the video on their website and it helped tremendously. Everything was fairly easy except for the tub nut. Even with a spanner wrench it was not easy. We have hard water and the nut had an extreme amount of calcium and corrosion. It took about 3 hrs just for that nut but after that everything went smooth. The total job was about 6 hrs. If I do it again I will pre soak the nut with white vinegar or penetrating oil the night before.
