For Bosch Wall Oven Fixing Kit (Mounting Hardware) (Part Number: OEM13527072)

Adam for Model Number HBL3550UC/08

The cooling fan kicks on as soon as you turn on the oven and I get an error code E118. The oven will not turn off until I cut the breaker. I don't believe I have a power supply issue since this oven has been in the house for 11 years or so. My question is do I check the temperature sensor for continuity, or do I check the thermostat? I don't see a part number for a thermostat replacement which makes me wonder if I have to replace the control board?

Adam, You will want to check the wiring to make sure that there are no loose or damaged wires at the connectors for the fan and control board. If there are then they will need to be repaired. If there are not then check the hall sensor for proper seating, make sure that the wire routing is not coming in contact with the end cap on the cooling fan, and make sure that the upper plenum coming in contact with the rubber endcap on the cooling fan. This will most likely need a cooling fan and a control board for the E118 error.

Stephen, The E118 error code indicates two possible issues. A power supply problem, you may want to start by checking the power supply wiring and connections at the terminal block. The other, and the more likely issue, is a cooling fan error, The fan motor may be running slow if at all, or the airflow is blocked and allowing the control panel area to overheat and open the thermostat.

Edward, you may have a relay on the main control that is sticking and not opening up quickly enough. I would replace the control and the temperature probe both at the same time. Ohms readings on temperature sensors can be erratic at times. Part number for the control is 12022214, the sensor is 00642855
