  • Maintains alignment so the latch and door switches engage correctly
  • Helps ensure an even seal to prevent heat or air leaks
  • Common symptoms: door sags, rubs, or won't close/latch; appliance won't run/heat because the door isn't engaging

What's included: 1 hinge Install notes:

  • Disconnect power to the appliance before servicing
  • Support the door to prevent strain on the remaining hinge while removing hardware
  • Install the new hinge in the same orientation; transfer any screws or bushings from the original
  • Verify door alignment and latching before restoring power

Bill for Model Number GE ZET857DYSB

this is a double oven wall unit. the doors do not close securely.. there is about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch play when the doors are closed. from what I have been reading, it sounds like it may need new hinges. there are screws at the end of the hinges, are these possibly for adjusting the hinges? also there is a round rod with a notch in it at the top of the doors, is this for locking the door in oven cleaning mode or does this rod also help in closing door tightly?

1 Answer

Bill, No there is no tension adjustment for the door hinges WB10X10078 and hinge receptacles WB10X10028 . The parts will need top be replaced to achieve a proper fit and finish to the front of the oven.

Hello Larry, The left one is WB10X10078 and the right one is WB10X10078. If one is replaced, it is recommended to replace both. This way you have equal pressure against the door gasket from each side. Also, as heat tends to affect the temper of the steel, an older spring is not only more likely to break, but it also is less likely to be as strong, as far as pressure to the door gasket goes. The hinges WB10X10028 inside the door are just as susceptible to heat damage, but are more likely to need replacing if the door has been stressed like a child climbing up on it or an adult falling on it. This isn't saying that they do not need to be repaired as I can't see it from here. The individual performing the repair has to inspect them for damage and determine whether they need replaced or not. As far as door removal, flip the little pivoting latches and start the door in the closing direction. You then have to fully support the door as you manipulate it out. Re-installation is just the opposite.
