Janet, A model number is pretty important, we can assist you better with it. In the mean time, check the back wall or floor of the freezer for a frost or ice build up, this would indicate a defrost problem, and would restrict the air flow to the refrigerator compartment. Being an older machine, you want to check and make sure the evaporator fan motor runs properly and circulates the air in both compartments. Then check the damper control and linkage to make sure the damper which controls the air to the refrigerator, is opening and closing as adjustments are made at the control knob.
