Questions & Answers

For Lg Refrigerator Compressor Assembly (Part Number: OEM18742872)

1 Answer

Hello Joddy, The start device/overload mounts on the compressor but the thermistor is used by the control board to monitor the temperature of the units' interior. The manufacturer has mis-labeled the parts on the parts explosion. The manufacturer will have to be contacted for the issue to be resolved and obtain the correct part number.

Matt for Model Number kenmore refrigerator 79578549801

My freezer is no longer working. Called out the repairman said it was thermistor. Come to find out its part # EBG44308701. They no longer make this part. From what I've been reading on here, all I have to do is replace the compressor assembly? Now my refrigerator seems to be getting warmer. Is this due to the same part or is another part bad also. Is this compressor assembly TCA34638901 compatable with my model refrigerator? Thanks

Hello Matt, I'm sorry but this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. The compressor does not come with the thermistor so if you replaced it, you would still need the thermistor and the unit still would not work.

Joe, The start relay would not be a problem if the freezer temp is getting down to 33-35 degrees. You will want to check the frost pattern on the coils and make sure that they are not impacted with frost and have a full even frost pattern. If the coils are impacted with ice then there is a defrost failure and you will need to do a resistance check on the defrost sensor and the controller. If the coils are only partially frosted then you have a sealed system failure. More than likely a leak in which you will have to determine where the leak is located.

Hello Christopher, I'm sorry but we do not have this information available to us. I searched for the information but was unable to locate it for you. If we had the model number for the unit you are looking to put it in, we could possibly locate a satisfactory replacement part.
