Karen, The icemaker lever being in the down position will keep the unit from making ice and will need to replace the icemaker for this issue.

Robert for Model Number LSC27910ST

I have the LG LSC27910TT; the ice maker works, but it seems like it fills up to high. It packs in so much ice it is hard to pull the draw out. And it has broken the cone on the ice tray that has the spiral in it to move the ice. The lever on the ice maker is in the up position and doesn't move. I tried moving it up and down but did not want to force it... Shouldn't the ice lever be down when ice is being made and when the tray is filling up it turns the ice maker off?

1 Answer

Robert, The arm on the icemaker should be in the up position and when the icemaker cycles it will drop down and if it does not extend fully it will cause the icemaker to not dump the ice. It sounds as though it is not recoginizing the ice bin being full which would be a icemaker issue.

Ricardo, With the icemaker not shutting off then this would most likely be a issue with the switch in the icemaker and would need a bad icemaker.

Joshua for Model Number LSC26905TT

I have the LG LSC26905TT; the ice maker works, but it doesn't turn off when the tray fills up. I'm trying to figure out where the lever/sensor would be that shuts the ice maker off when it fills up. I don't see any obvious lever that would be raised by the ice level to deactivate the ice maker. I see levers like this on other refrigerators, but not this one. Currently, I have to manually hit the off button on the ice maker when the basket fills up.

Joshua, The ice maker lever would be located on the side of the icemaker module. If it is not there then it sounds like it has been broken off. If you look at the pictures under this part number 5989JA1005D, picture number 4 you will see where the icemaker arm is supposed to be.

Joshua, The shelf is part number 5027JJ1098D. The motor on the icemaker is what has the cut off switch in it and if the arm is not shutting the icemaker off then you would need to replace the icemaker 5989JA1005D.
