Karthik October 11, 2019 for Model Number MFI2269VEM10 I see too much ice in my freezer and sometimes i could not open the freezer door due to its locked with too much Ice. I have to switch off my fridge and wait for three hours to open freezer section. Please suggest solution for this issue.
1 Answer Karthik, with the ice cleared out, the door should be tested to ensure that it is sealing properly to the cabin. This can be done by using a piece of paper the size of a dollar to place in between the gasket and the cabin, close the door, and test for resistance when sliding the paper out. This would need to be done across the entire gasket. If there is a section that does not have resistance, then the gasket has not sealed and would need to be corrected. Read More...
Randy December 01, 2016 for Model Number GX5FHDXVY05 Water was freezing and collecting on the bottom of the freezer. Eventually water spilled over on the kitchen floor. Replaced old trough drain with new style p-drain tube per instructions that came with it, including the new sleeve. After about a month, it started all over again--freezing/draining water on the floor. The new p-drain was inspected, no blockage and clear. Ideas?
1 Answer Hello Randy. Try cleaning out all the ice again and turn the temp in the freezer to 0. May be to cold. Read More...
Charlie P. October 30, 2016 for Model Number mff2258veb4 Ice is forming in the bottom of the freezer. What is the solution for this problem and the part number? thank you for helping.
1 Answer Charlie, You will need to remove the rear wall of the freezer and clean out all the ice from under the evaporator and flush with hot water. You will then want to change out the drain tube part number W10619951 to keep this from happening. There is a duck bill on the unit drain right now that will need to be removed. Read More...
Doug February 23, 2016 for Model Number GB9FHDXWS08 How to unhook the drain tube from the drain pan....does it pull off or is there a tab that has to be released?
Greg November 04, 2014 for Model Number gb2fldxwq04 I have taken the lower back panel off and checked the little black rubber piece. Seems fine. The funnel going up into the freezer compartment seems to be plugged with a plastic plug, like the plastic piece was never removed from the inside of the funnel tube. It is completely closed off with a plastic plug. I put a hose on it and could not blow or pull any air back through it. Could the factory have put a defective plugged up funnel in there? If so can I push the plastic piece out of the funnel? If I have to replace it I assume I need to do it from the inside of the freezer compartment. Right?
1 Answer Hello Greg, The part should come with an instruction sheet. This part W10619951 will install from the inside the machine compartment behind the refrigerator. Air and water should be able to freely pass through this device. If not you should open the freezer compartment and remove the covers allowing access to the defrost drain to ensure nothing is blocking it. Read More...
Bill August 14, 2014 for Model Number BR22TW My Amana Bottom Mount freezer has been leaking. I removed the back panel of the freezer and checked the inside drip tray for freezing, but it was clear/clean. I opened the access panels in the back and saw that the drain line was broken off of the funnel (I think) so the defrost water was just falling to the floor. I have a picture. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
1 Answer Hello Bill. If the funnel is broken, then you will need to order a new funnel W10815413 and snap it into place. Make sure you clear the drain line of any clogs. Read More...
Dave May 18, 2014 for Model Number GI5FVAXVL01 I have a Whirlpool refrigerator/bottom freezer model #GI5FVAXVL01. The drain funnel for the freezer condensation froze and ice started forming on the bottom of the freezer. I removed the ice and thawed the funnel. There is a rubber grommet/choke on the end of the drain funnel that keeps warm moist air from getting to the freezer compartment. This part seems to be causing the problem. Do you have a parts number for the that rubber grommet/choke?
1 Answer Hello Dave, If the loop is not in the drain tube WR02X11476 this will be your issue. You see, the loop holds water which will prevent the air from entering and exiting the freezer section. Read More...
Bob H August 26, 2013 for Model Number gb2fhdxwq00 I noticed that we speak of the drain funnel here. I've had jobs that the freezer drain trough is frozen and blocked. I clear the funnel and find at times the rubber choke is missing and the heat from the Compressor compartment by nature travels up the the funnel and causes condensation to freeze at the opening causing a problem. Q- Does this part have a Number or does it come with the Funnel...?
Bob June 05, 2013 for Model Number MFI2665XEM How do you replace the freezer drain funnel? I unclogged it from inside the freezer, but would like to consider replacing the funnel. The coils and defrost drain pan cover the funnel on the inside of the freezer. How do you remove / replace the funnel?
1 Answer Hello Bob. This is not easy to replace. The evaporator needs to be raised, without damaging it, and the pan needs to be moved to replace the funnel. If it is not damaged, it is best not to replace it. Read More...
Chris345 February 10, 2013 for Model Number whirlpool gold GB9FHDXWS04 Thanks for this great website . I saved myself 30+ $$ on reading the forums here and not buying a water control valve for my icemaker . Instead the cause of water pooling on the floor of the freezer (bottom) was a clogged the frozen drain for the defrost water drain. Yup full of food gunk. I was able to clean it out from behind the fridge and melt the ice plug with a hairdryer from inside the freezer area. I am wondering about a black rubber cap thing that's on the end of the funnel where it sticks down above the channel and pan that collects the water. It seem like a choke point for food debris from above and I do not see it on the list of parts you list here for the freezer. Is it really needed?
1 Answer Hello Chris345. As long as the funnel is installed properly onto the unit, and the seal and gasket are good, you should be fine with the water draining properly. Read More...
